Just like with most other ATV or side by side riding enthusiast, we of Atvtorture.com like to capture some of the awesome places that we ride on some type of video camera. With the booming market of helmet cams, there are a plethora of them from which to choose. When you finally decide on the one that has all of the options you choose, then most times you find the mounting options to be less than satisfactory.

When we were weighing the options for helmet cams, we found the CountourHD line of cameras to fit our needs to a "T'. However, as with every other camera systems we have tried, we were not pleased with the mount configuration of the CountourHD for the type of riding that we do. What we found with the CountourHD was that the mounts that are provided were cumbersome and allowed our camera to bounce around on trail rides. A nice sturdy mounting system would make the CountourHD cameras absolutely amazing.

We came across XtremeVu's web site, http://www.xvusa.com and decided to give them a call to discuss all of their mounting options for the CountourHD cameras. XtremeVu offers a multi-purpose mounting system for the 20Twenty line of sports cameras. Made out of aluminum, the camera mounts clamp onto the camera to hold it securely in whichever of the mounting configurations that you choose. With the XtremeVu, you can securely mount your CountourHD or CountourHD GPS model using a ball mount that will clamp into any of the available RAM mount systems. This is our preferred method as then your options are endless. Additionally, you can mount the XtremeVu CamClamp to a helmet with the provided dual-lock, otherwise known as Velcro. Now don't turn your nose up just because we say Velcro as this isn't your average Velcro. The hook and loop that is provided is extremely strong and would require intentional efforts for it to come off or your helmet while riding.

Something that everyone encounters while trail riding behind another rider is rocks or debris flying up. Inevitably, some of that debris is going to hit your camera. What better way to ruin a great trail ride and your $300 camera than a rock popping the lens and scratching it, or even worse, breaking it!. Well, XtremeVu comes to the rescue from this standpoint as well. They also offer a CamLens adapter that can be purchased separately or as part of a combo kit with the CamClamp itself. Now what this does is allow you to thread ANY type of 43mm lens onto the adapter. When you purchase the adapter or a combo kit, it does come with a 43mm UV lens and an Allen wrench to install it on your camera. However, photography buffs know that there are a vast array of lenses besides UV lenses that give different effects to your photos or videos. So, the user can expand their lens inventory to screw onto their XtremeVu CamLens adapter to really trick out their videos.

But wait, the fun doesn't end here. For those of you that ride in water a lot or ride in areas that would be risky of your camera getting wet, you may already have or may want to purchase a waterproof enclosure for your CountourHD or CountourHD GPS camera. Well XtremeVu has the hook-up for you here as well. Since with the waterproof enclosure, the camera gets bigger, it will not fit in the standard CamClamp. So, they have available a product called CamClamp H20, a larger CamClamp that will fit on the waterproof enclosure. With the CamClamp H20, all of the same mounting options are available and all camera functions operate as normal. Keep in mind that if you are using the waterproof enclosure, and have purchased a CamLens, that the CamLens will not fit inside the waterproof enclosure. That being said, if you are using the CamLens purely as a lens protector, then you would not need to use it when the camera is in the waterproof enclosure as the enclosure itself would protect your lens.

Below is a summary of the CamClamp products that are available through XtremeVu and a description of each as needed:
