A bit embarrassing don't you think? ;;s;;

I set this up so we could see what different machines are running.

(This isn't a trash talking thread....but put your numbers where your smart :booty: talk is. I ran out of road, what's your excuse)
Ok. I hate to do it, but I have to call :bs: Mack. Gdub just posted a video of a V-twin turbo pulling 84MPH in the sand. If you're insinuating that your 450 hit 3 shy of that then I want calibration results on the speedo or a GPS back-up. Then I'll :notworthy: to you. Was it on KPH or where the rear tires lifted? Common man.

BTW GDub, what's your V got? How bout the grizz? Where's the mysterious Rene X? I know you know. This isn't a bash thread. I'm honestly not here to challenge you guys. I just thought it'd be cool to know what different quads were running.

hey guys. Sorry I've been out of pocket for a few days. The wife has been busy as hell trying to wrap up the end of tax season so when I have the free time, I've been screwing off. On top of pressure washing the damned Gade every couple of days to try to take new pics, I've been working on getting my 86 ATV 250R 3 wheeler back running again as well as my 88 TRX-250R. Gummed up tanks, carbs and brake lines suck.

Anyway, I will be posting pics over the next few days.

BTW, I'd put my 3-wheeler up against that damned KFX anyday on a straight.

No contest!

Very respectable dude! Proof the grizz isn't a joke right there.

Bman...we forgive you. Just give us some numbers and we won't ban you.

:la:

lmao!
I've never clocked my 3-wheeler but it will put some numbers up. it ran 59 out of the box when it was stock and new and I have done a lot of top end work, gearting, carb exhaust, etc. I'll have to find an open stretch and take my GPS on it once I get it back together.
'05 Rincon
57 MPH
Down hill with a tail wind on 2 mile RR bed (I need a Renegade!).
Yamaha Grizzly 700
67 MPH. @300 400'
Top of a mountain on a coal haul road.
Gravel Base 81 deg F.
Maxxis Bighorn tires 26"

It's as fast as I could get it to go!!!

The thing is, that particular quad wasn't on a straight. It was in sand, generating constant friction and restriction. I think that top speed for that machine in 330 ft was 98 MPH. There are some that are faster than that.

2005 Arctic Cat 650 V2 ran 65 mph, broke in. Now that I have 29.5' tires and gear rediction, my speedo is way off.
All stock Sportsman 850XP on a gravel road.

Looked down and was doing 68MPH and it was still climbing!

I'm sure I will never EVER have to go that fast in the woods!
Here is the top speed of our three current ATVs.
2008 Yamaha Raptor 250: 52 mph according to the speedometer on the Grizzly 700.
2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700: 69 mph, with clutch mods, Dynatek CDI, 2R Racing exhaust tip.
2009 Can Am Renegade 800R: 74 mph, with Ron Woods exhaust.

And here are some of my personal best.
2005 Bombardier DS 650: 84 mph on radar; Bonneville Salt Flats portion of local desert race. Front and rear sprocket changes, and 22" tires.
2008 KTM 950 Super Enduro: 125 mph, with lots of room left to go. I got nervous.
2008 Dodge Challenger SRT8: 168 mph.
2009 Yamaha FZ1: 140 mph, with LOTS AND LOTS AND LOTS of room left to go. I got nervous.

3TV
Impressive numbers 3TV. By the way it sounds, you favor the speed of the FZ1 best.
I've only owned the FZ1 for three days so far (I bought it thursday). I really have no idea what it is capable of, and I don't think I'll ever push it hard enough to find out. At 100 mph the tach is only reading 6400 RPM, with a 12,000 RPM redline. And the bike doesn't even start to come on the power hard until 7,000 RPM. It was amazing how easily and quickly it hit 140. I was still trying somewhat to complete engine break in, so was only at 2/3 throttle, but the bike was accelerating exponentially faster at 140, when I let off, than it was when I rolled on the power.

I don't know why we can't have engines like this R1 motor in the ATV industry. Yes it has an unbelievable amount of power, but the power has such an increadibly broad spread, and is so silky smooth and so managable that it is still really easy to control. You need to respect that kind of power, but it could certainly be used in a well designed UTV chassis.

2007 Grizzly 700 speedo readings
stock(rev limited)........68mph
mods listed in sig........73mph(once but mostly 71)
2008 400 Big Bear 48mph on a three mile downhill straight away and screaming . I should be able to work up and pass that FZ1 of 3TV's after he parks it till the year 5000 A.D. no ? LOL

Actually I can take off from a standing start on a flat in 5th gear and hit 40 mph in 1/4 mile or so I figger . Kinda surprises me how well it does take off in high gear from a dead start on a flat and builds to it's max . Shifting through them all I don't think I would get to topping out much quicker .
