Well this weekend, I had a chance to fully test my next Elka shocks, and to say that I am impressed is an understatement.

This is the best upgrade ever. After three quads, I have never upgraded the shocks, and from now on this will be the 1st thing I do.

I tested the shocks on both slow and technical trails, and a very fast paced trail as well.

On the rocky section the articulation was magnificent. I dropped the preload down and brought the rebound up a few clicks, and this thing crawled over everything so smoothly. I was so impressed I couldn't wait to get tot he fast section.

We stopped for lunch and I took the preload back up a few turns and we hit the fast section pretty hard. The quad hooked up like it was a sport quad. It tracked flat thru the corners, but wasn't rough. The rear end felt like it was a straight axle and not IRS. I was able to drift it perfectly thru the sweepers and potholes were non existent! I was totally amazed at the difference in ride quality. I have ridden this trail before and I remember how it was with the stock suspension. It was like night and day!

Jumps were smooth on landing and with the rebound adjusted properly there wasn't any bucking effect at all.

Elka got my shocks set up perfectly for how I ride. When the pace slowed down, it was smooth as butter with the multi-rate shocks, but when I needed to go hard, the shocks never faded.

I could have used some compression adjustably, but I don't go hard enough to justify Stage 3 shocks.

Got some videos I'm working on to show the ride. Will post them up when I get them edited.

If you haven't considered upgrading suspension, you need to do so, and the folks at Elka can hook you up!

Great review SB. It really sounds like you got your moneys worth on those.
Yeah. I'm pleased. I think I need a softer spring in the front. I'm running it with zero preload for normal trail riding. With zero preload the front end stands straight up with zero compression. Would like to be able to drop the front down an inch to improve my high speed performance.

That's awesome. I'm glad you love them!

Mine, on my Rene actually sat at 7 3/4 inches ground clearance when I got them. Before riding, I adjusted preload to riase it up to 8.5 inches and I have to say it is a little harsh. I may have to just work ground clearance for where I am riding since it is so easy.

I'm gonna drop it back down and see if they will smooth out. They did have to put heavier spring up front since I weigh 205 and have 55lbs of winch and winch mount up front. They put the heavier springs to prevent bottoming out on jumps so I may have to just sacrifice a little ride for that. Who knows, but we will see.

Again, I'm glad you are happy, but I knew you would be!
