sportsman battery light intermitten flash

Hello im new to this forum and i recently bought a polaris sportsman 700 carb , i was having a problem not long after i bought it with the battery light flashing so i threw a tester on the battery sure enough it was charging at 17 volts so i took the voltage regulator off and put a new one on fixed it, that was a few weeks ago i was out on tour on sun and now the battery light blinks for a bit then stops few more miles starts blinking then stops, but never seems to do it on idle. any help would be great i just got this bike and it has been a nightmare .
