Southern West Virginia Getting More Trails
ATV News
West Virginia's Bluefield Daily Telegraph has reported that Raleigh County, located in the southern part of the state, has approved plans for a new trail system.
Not part of the state's Hatfield-McCoy Trails System, Burning Rock Off-Road Park, will encompass 8,000 acres and 80 miles of trails. The county has been working to create a local ATV trail system since 2005, and the new park will be located near Tams Mountain.
“We feel this new ATV trail system will be the largest tourism attraction in Raleigh County in the years to come,†Commission President Pat Reed said.
“We wanted to look at a public/private contract with a local land owner,†Reed said. “We were very fortunate to have a large land owner in Beaver Coal Co. Ltd. come into the project with us.â€
Reed added the commission hopes the new ATV trial system will be up and running this July.
