Also known as the Yellow Jacket. Here are the pictures of the heavily modified skid that the Grizz will be making its voyage on.

This is a stock Yamaha skid cut and welded to fit the aftermarket tires and wheels. There is still some minor work to do after the quad is parked on the skid. I will post more pictures as the project developes.

Ya know ... I read a post by a guy say'in something about "Buy'in" the Yellow Jacket from ya ... and I thought, "NO WAY !!"

I'm not sure I could've sold it. I have my Banshee I don't ride much anymore, but I can't bring myself to put it up for sell ... sigh !!

Anyway ... the shipping crate you're mak'in looks way nice. Can't wait to see the finished product.

Yeah Gunny. It's all but gone. The transaction has taken a good bit of time. There were several things to get past selling/buying across National borders. And there are a few more to settle before we finalize, but I trust that all of this will be completed very soon. Next move (for the skid) is to drain all fluids from the Grizz, replace the oil filter and spark plug, winch the ole girl on the skid, wrap it up, load it up, ship it off. I'll def. post some pics of it before she leaves the homestead.

It was not an easy decision to sell the Grizz. And at times, I regret it. That's all I'll say about that.

:love9:
Man that has GOT to be tough :BangHead: ... I mean, if ya sell the bike to a guy or gal someplace within driving distance, they drive up, hand ya the cash, load it up, & drive a way. Quick & painless so to speak.

But this ... paperwork ... build a cage for the Grizz ... work on the Grizz ... put her in the cage & tie her down ... more paperwork ... have a shipper load her up & take her away ... man, that's to much time to spend with it when you know ya want to keep her .... :crybaby2:

OK, OK ... now go out & get on the Can-Am ... start the motor ... if ya can, run it down the road .... don't even LOOK at "Yellow Jacket" ... put a tarp over her or something ... :sad2:

Be strong Battlegun, Be strong .... :coffee:

Thanks Trapper. :eek:ccasion14:
I have to agree with Gunny, and give you credit for selling it! I am horrible about keeping things just for that random ride instead of letting someone else have that thrill. Good luck with all of it and it looks awesome!
Well guys, thanks a lot for the kind words, and sympathy. :beer" The project should be coming to an end by next week. I'll make sure to update this thread with some final pictures...including me crying on it. :crybaby2:
You made out pretty good on that Grizz. Gratz.

And thanks to certian people! :eek:ccasion14: (Still don't want to sell it though.)
Well folks the Grizz is now a Canuk! The new owner took receipt of the ATV over the weekend. While we are working threw some final issues I think the new owner is happy.

Speaking of issues. The new owner claims the rear tires rub. I never had this problem. My first concern is there may be damage from prolonged compression of the shocks. Is this a foolish notion?

My other suspision is he is putting more weight on the rear than I did and may want to adjust the dampning (stiffness of the shock). When I shipped the ATV I almost completely compressed the shocks and the tires did touch the front of the rear fender, but up to that point, they had never touched before.
Battlegun ... the tires rub ?? Rub what ?? I wouldn't think prolonged compression would cause the shocks to "Stay" that way .... but who knows.

Maybe try the opposite anology .... have him hang the rear of the Grizz up by the rack & let the tires hang, which would have the shocks in a max decompress state, and leave it like that for a day or two .... Hey, don't roll yer eyes ... it was just a suggestion, Jeez !!! .... :beer"

Take Care .... & don't enjoy the Can-AM TOO much !!!!

He says the tires touch the bottom fender. This, in my mind, would mean they are touching the rear fender at the lowest part, right behind the footwell. The more I think about this, the more I think he is putting more weight on the rear than I did. (Judging by the pictures he sent me.) I believe I will advise him to adjust the shocks before advancing the trouble shooting.
He must be putting a LOT of extra weight on the rear end, if the tires are rubbing, on the flat, just sitting or riding on a smooth surface.

Now, if he was jumping, going over whoop-de-do's, or something like that ... then, yeah.
Did you have over size tires on the Grizz ?? (I can't remember ?) ... My 27's use to rub once in a great while .... but never just riding down the road. (And I trimmed the fenders for those "Other" times, Savvy ??)

And like you wrote, if he has the shocks set on the softest setting ... & the tires rub ... well yeah, stiffen them up a click or two.

Don't feel bad Battlegun. My riding buddy bought some tracks so he can go snow riding with me. I went to his place to see how's he coming installing them .... he had one track on ..... backwards !!!!!!!!!! ..... :cheer:

Hopefully, the new owner, with your help, will get this slight issue resolved to his satisfaction .... soon !

I would ask him to get someone to take a picture of him riding when it is doing this rubbing so you can kinda see what he's doing and what kinda load he has on it. YBUgly has a 660 with 26's on it, shocks set at the softest setting and his don't rub.

Interesting. I had the shocks set at the stock settings. I never had a need to change it up. If I were going to keep the ATV I probably would have stiffened the rear but not for rubbing purposes. I have asked him to send me a picture of this. Thanks.

Ah now that's a home coming for the mighty Grizz, eh ? LOL . Did the beast land anywhere near me here in Ontario , Battlegun . I would be honoured to see the Grizz in person .

I wonder what tire pressure he is running in the Grizz and if that has anything to do with it to have it rub . I know lawn tractors are shipped with tires super filled with air and often the dealership techs forget to realease it back to norm and folks complain about lack of traction and rubbing . Just a thought anyways bud although I'm sure you already covered that .

I know with your attention to detail your losing some sleep over it while wracking your brain to figger it out . I hope the fix comes in soon for both you and the buyer because that Grizz is truly one of a kind and needs to be shown off .

Well trapper, I advised the new owner to adjust the shocks, but I have not heard back from him in about a week. I have to assume all is well.

I'm ashamed to say, I don't know where Ontario is but he is in the South/Western part of Canada I think. The pictures he provided me showed the Grizz in the snow. (I think that was the first time it had ever seen the snow.)
Well Ontario is in the central part of Canada but considered the east too but your comment about the area having snow makes me chuckle BattleGun because I don't think there is anywhere in Canada that doesn't see snow . lmao . Ontario boarders and is also directly north of Michigan, north of Wisconsin and north of New York State and likely another one or two states and bigger than Texas by far . LOL

TD
Are you SURE Canada is bigger than Texas? ;;s;; LMAO! Just kidding.
