A buddy of mine who use to ride with us all the time had a Rincon and everyone was always on him about it since he would get stuck in the mud with only 3 wheels turning. I don't think he rode with us at all last year and he kept saying he would get a Can Am 800 and smoke us all. Most of us didn't believe him but I got the call yesterday and he has a brand new 800 XT and is ready to ride. He's already talking about heading to our dragstrip and said he wants a piece of the "big bad brute" lol. I always heard stock for stock a Brute will beat a Can Am 800 in 300ft as many times as it loses. If this is the case then I should do good as mine is much quicker than it was stock because of the Copperhead and now the maroon spring. This will be the first race which I am the lighter rider lol! It may end up that my old Grizz may get him too since I can't beat him yet! What do you guys think and I will let you know what happens! I will try to video it too!

I think the Outty will not fair too well unless it is broken in. If it is broken in I believe it will be pretty close across the board, mostly depending on the operator. I also would say the brute and grizz will get the holeshot even if the Outty is broken in. Just watch that mid range and top end of the Outty. They are strong there.

I will be installing a Dalton Kit on my Outty to help with the bottom (and some other issues).

Good luck and I hope you do get the opportunity to video it.

I studied every dyno chart I could get my hands on you are def right about mid and top on an Outty. They make so much power for so long so if you can get the power curve to start just a little earlier you will have the baddest power curve around. Stock for stock Can Am peak power is 40rwhp at 28mph and a Brute's peak power is the same but at 15mph. My old Modded Grizzly makes peak power of 44rwhp at about 40 to 45mph which is ten more than my Brute and five more than your Outty at same speed. Problem for my Brute is since the peak power is at a lower speed the mid and top end can't be held as long and so the Can Am and Grizzly will dominate me there. Lucky for me this is a short race but gonna be real close! BTW I don't think the guy with my old Grizz can be there. He has too work but will call if something changes.

It went exactly as I figured with one small detail. I could not launch good at all with all my new found power! The Can Am does not have the same low end punch and could launch perfect every time while I was all over the place spinning like crazy or would wheelie out. I almost hit him three times while power sliding on takeoff! The one time I did get traction and didn't wheelie out I won pretty easy except he was slowly starting to run me down at the end. He said since I couldn't get any traction we should do a 10 to 12mph rolling start and he got me by about half a bike. My drag strip is about 160 yards. We didn't drag on asphalt but did a 30mph rolling start and he walks away and hit 73mph with my losing ground at 71mph. BTW Outlanders have awesome mid and top end power and are very smooth in their power curve. Low end power is good and very easy to control. This is totally opposite of my Brute

That is some interesting information. Sounds like you have all the power you need, now you just need to learn to put it to the ground properly. Have you tried adjusting your rear suspension to see if that helps any?
I have the suspension cranked all the way up and it still squats like crazy. Def have to much low end right now(if that is possible!) to do much drag racing until I practice a bunch. It works great on the trails as I can powerslide anytime I want at most any trail speed. Throttle response is as good as it gets finally. On the dirt road heading back to the truck I stopped and took off as hard as I could and didnt get good traction until 38mph! I could go along and throw rooster tails running 30mph! This thing runs awesome up to the low 40's and then its power curve starts running out of power and that is when the Outty gets me good. Like I said before an Outty's peak hp is at 28mph while mine is 15mph so I am already heading downhill while the Outty is spooling up! Is it too much to ask to not have great just low end but mid and top end as well? Lol!

Don't forget, the Outy has a bit more cylinder volume and has been tuned and tweaked to get the most out of it. From what I have been told, the Outy doesn't respond nearly as well as some other machines when it comes to opening up the engine. The Brute will respond real well to power mods if you ever decide to cam it and such.

I'll side with GW on the power mods. Although we will hopefully be testing some soon for the outty. As far as the Dalton goes, I CAN'T WAIT to find out. I've got some bearings on order for the shifter and as soon as they get here, I'll perform the install.

Last thing, Bull, your take on the outlanders low end power curve is very interesting and makes sense. I still can't help to think that it can be improved.

You can def improve it and when you do you will have so much more fun being able to rip around like i can and considering you already have the unreal mid and top end! Talk about the best of both worlds! BTW when you coming over to ride with us? Have to get the Wiz to come too!

Give me some advanced notice and I'll ride with ya'll. My schedule pretty much sucks, but given enough notice I can make it happen.

I don't know why that dyno chart I was looking at before said your Outty only had 40rwhp. Something was off.
