I am certianly not experienced with the Ruby, but my intuition tells me it's like high and low range. Anyone else?
The Rubicon has a high and low range built into the hydrostatic transmission. It is selectable via the main gear shift. The D1 mode allows the transmission and engine to provide maximum performance, while the D2 mode allows for maximum torque.

ESP1 and ESP2 require the operator to manually shift the gears by pushing the up and down buttons. ESP is completely automatic shifting.
