New machine in the stable

Some of your know by now that I took the plunge and dived into the side by side arena.

I did quite a bit of pondering and comparing and pondering some more. Many of you know that I am not a Polaris guy; never liked them all that well at all. However, the Polaris RZR was the only machine that fit my bill completely (or at least 95%.

Why the Polaris RZR you ask? I knew I wanted a SxS, I loved the Teryx, it is competitively priced and it is hard to hurt the Kawasaki V-twin engine. But for me the Teryx sat to high in the air, was to wide for most of the ATV trails and I was sold on the looks completely. It looks like a sported up Mule somewhat (just my opinion).

I looked at the Yamaha Rhino, underpowered and overpriced. And Yamaha reliability isn't what Yamaha reliability used to be. Yes it may be out with EPS this year, but why? It is already easy to steer.

Actic Cat Prowler was a thought with it's 1000cc engine. But I have not heard anything good on the AC's whatsoever. Again, it was a little too big for me.

Honda.....Are you kidding? Have you seen this thing?

I didn't really need a larger amount of cargo / bed space so that was really not a consideration. I live in town, not a farm, this is more of a toy that anything else.

I kept falling back on the Polaris RZR, it's 50" size assured me that I would be able to maneuver 95% of all the ATV trails I usually travel with ease, it would fit on my most favorite 5X8 all aluminum trailer. It also was one of the more comfortable machines that I had set in. So I guess that the size was the MAJOR deciding factor on making my decision.

Lemon & Barretts of Mineral Wells, WV hooked me of with a fantastic deal on this RZR. It was done, I was now in the UTV SXS world.

My first impressions....snappy throttle and this thing will go in more areas as my Grizzly will go, as long as it will fit width wise. I outfitted it with 26" Maxxis Bighorns and 14" Pure Polaris 8 spoke alloy wheels. (pictures to follow)

That's it!

Congratulations GW! I had the chance to drive a friends Rzr S for about four hours a few weeks ago, and had lots of fun with it. I think you'll enjoy that Rzr.

Thanks 3TV,

In one sense I don't think it will ever take the place of the quads but it is a different style of riding. With a roof over your head, this extends your riding time in the more adverse weather. You can always get a windshield and pretty well storm proof it if your wish.

There are a lot of creature comforts available for the side by sides also.
Dude ........ you went to the DARK SIDE  .............. :rotfl:

OK, it's been almost 24 hrs since ya informed us ya go this "Creature Comforts" machine ........ where's the frigg'in photo's ?? :banging:

And tell us Oh Great One .... what mods are in the plans with this new stable machine ??

I've never ridden in one of these machines, but I too like the looks & 50" width of the RZR compared to any of the others. I just wish they all had 1000 cc motors ..... to move all that weight around better :cheer:

And, Congrates on the new ride .... May The Force Be With You !!!

Photos are on their way Gunny.

As for mods, so far I have the Ricochet skids (mush have), Direct 2 fender flares and on the way are custom seat covers and a carbon fiber hood from Quad-Tech ATV.

We are wanting to do something for a front and rear bumper system as well as a winch setup similar to the 2R racing setup on my Grizzly.

As for power, it is now slouch whatsoever. You guys out west may think differently cause you have more space yo get out and stretch your legs a bit. Back here I am finding that 40 MPH on the trails with one of these is fast enough. In some certain terrains it is actually easier that with a quad.
Can't wait to follow this vehicle. I'm wanting one badly as I hope to take my daughter along once she gets a little older.

OK, sub-compact golf cart .... would be a hand full ... you bess get that front bumper & a 5-point harness .... you know .... in case one of those WV trees jump out in front of ya .... cause those sudden type stops will jar yer teeth loose ... Savvy ?? :rotfl:

I agree .... I didn't even notice the RZR until I clicked on the second photo .... :eek:ccasion14:
Congrats Grizz Wizz. If I were gonna buy a SxS, I'll bet it would be the Razor. I have tons of questions, but will spare them cause I'm sure you'll answer them when you start writing about this machine. One, however, I can not resist. How is the stability of this machine? They all (SxS's) just look so durn top heavy.

While I cannot speak for the rest, the RZR is not top heavy. the low center of gravity and the position of the engine make it very formidable in some of the most off camber situations. Due to its length and partially the weight it negotiates things better than a quad, the only downside is when you do hit certain obstacles that would require a counterweight, it is impossible to do buckled into the seat.,

When compared to the Rhino and Teryx, the seating is much more comfortable.
Grizz Wizz ?? ...... Man that sounds like ya had to many cold ones :rotfl:

But, to get back on track .... how does the roll cage look for these ... "certain obstacles that would require a counterweight" ... should you go over ?? :eek:ccasion14:
