I bought a 2011 Outlander 800R MAX-XT 2-Up in camo. I've had the bike two weeks ... and I only have 35 minutes on it .......... and I've had a hell of a time gett'in all the parts I wanted.

First, some of the mods I had the dealer install where ... twist throttle, High Pressure Gas shocks, Stainless exhaust cover, 3 mod module for Power Steering with tracks (it's on Back Order), Uni Air Filter, and CVT filter with Outwear for track use.

I had them take the front & rear bumpers off & the factory handguard.
Got it home & I started my parts ordering .......

I ordered Black Diablo Beadlocks ... which are back ordered (for the Can Am any way) until late April or maybe longer.
So after a week of try'in to find a wheel I wanted, I chose the ITP T7 Beadlock. It comes with the polished ring. I ordered black rings along with caps & lug nuts ......... sigh ........ the rings are on back order ??

The wheels showed up Thursday ... but no lug nuts or caps or valve stems .... those had to come from another warehouse & won't be here until Tuesday. So I bought some valve stems & mounted the tires. I used the lug nuts from my tracks .... so I could go riding if I wanted.

I will say, Matthew Bell at ATV Outfitters is one hell of a guy. I feel he went above & beyond to help me out & make me happy. THANKS Dude !!!

I bought a frame stiffener called the "Spine" from ATR. I prepare the frame to install it & WTF ?? ........ for the 2-up machine, it's suppose to be 61 inches long ....... I got the 52 inch one for a single rider bike ....... so they had to send out the correct one .... I check inside the frame to see where 61 inches is going to end up at ......... DAMN !!! ........ in the 2011 Can Am's the factory puts in a frame stiffener in the forward 18 inches ..... so now I have to cut the "Spine" to fit.

Then there's the "Keeper" that goes behind the "Spine" .... Yup, it's to long so I have to modify that as well.

Here I would like to THANK Jeremy at ATR since he also was very understanding in all this & went out of his way to also make me a happy rider !!!

Since Canned Hams have their storage boxes access in the middle of the racks (???) ... I wanted something I could mount my box & Roto Pax's to & if needed, would be easy to remove for access to the storage boxes. (The front one has the remote winch controls in it)

I found this Modular Rack system ... pretty pricey ... out of Canada ... it gets here ... and they (UPS) want another $50 "Duty Charge" ......... WTF ??
I call the company & bitch like hell ... they tell me this was the first time they used UPS & have never heard of this charge & offer two additional items to keep me happy .... SWEEEET !!!

Here's another great custome service guy, Shayne .... THANKS to him as well.

I didn't like the stock handlebars ... they seemed to low. So I order some Pro Taper Contour "Raptor" bars. They raise the handle bars where ya grab it about 3 inches, so a riser isn't needed.

I have some cool Pro Taper Fat Bar mounts for jap bikes. So I cut the bottom "Bump" off. Takes most the day to get that off & the bottom of the mounts level & square. Go to mount them on the steering stem ............ CRAP ......... the Canned Ham has a smaller spacing ... the mounts won't work.

So I call the dealer & order the mounts BRP sells for fat bars ... which are black .... and have to wait a week ........ they are way nice however ........

I wasn't crazy about the 2011 factory bumpers ........ so I ordered some others (alos out of Canada) ......... but I didn't totally like the mesh in the front one & the lower side tubes, since those would get hit with the tracks ......... so more modifing .........

I also didn't care for the factory tow point bracket out back ....... so I found one I did like made in Idaho ... and then took the rear winch mount I had on the Grizz & cut it up to keep the "Tow Ring" I had & bolted that up.

Bolted on the Ricochet skids plates .... which are gonna kinda give me fits next winter when I go to mount the new snowplow mount & the rear tracks mounts .... which are WAY different then on the Grizz. So I have some work still required come this fall to be able to run the tracks.

I felt the front inside was to open to mud & snow & such ... so I made some inner fenders using a different material than I had on the Grizz & used those platic push pin fasteners that gave it a clean, factory look.

Let's see ........ I think that covers about everything ..........

Here's a few photo's of the completed bike ...... again, I don't have the correct lug nuts on so no bashing, Savvy ??

AND ... Not sure if everyone knows what the "Spine" is
... so here's the link to the company & here's some photo's ...

Remember, if your bike isn't a 2011, you WON'T have to cut it like I did

Nice ride Gunny. Quite a power improvement over the Grizzly isn't it? I see you didn't wait to start modding it, as I would even expect you would. Welcome to the can-am world. You won't be disappointed. Great idea going ahead with teh frame mod. Much easier to put in when it is new before it gets banged up. I bottomed mine out on a rock one day before I had done my mod so bad that it dented the Ricichet and dented the center frame section up front on the bash plate. Made it a little tought to get my frame mod all the way in, but with a little coercing, it went.

Congrats again. I can't wait to see what else you do to it. BTW, nice wheels too. They look vaguely familiar. :)

Yeah, now add an AAEN exhaust for it and you will really like the sound. Not too loud but it sounds like it cams like a Harley.

So I'm a weenie ?? ....... :salute:

I'm not sure I wanta start spending any money on this machine. (Crap, what am I saying, I've already spent close to $4K on Non-performance stuff !!! :violent1: ) ........ anyway, not interested in a pipe or any clutch work just yet .... ::)

But it is in the back of my mind ....... :seesaw:

I give it 6 months.

Well funny boy .... I lasted 30 days since you made that comment :salute:

I've been out rid'in a few times & then when I get home, I tear all the side covers off & give the bike the once over ..... ;;t;; ... ;;t;;

When I look at how it's put together & what it may need, I have the track use in the back of my mind .... with snow going every where :cold: .... and, if I get into any deep water or in a hole where the bike is half in & half out ... :sad2:

First thing I noticed was the CVT exhaust ... I thought to myself .... "YOU'VE GOTTA BE KIDD'IN ME !!??" .......... I mean, the airbox intake is HIGH .... the CVT intake I bought for track use from the dealer (A BRP Option) is even higher (It's under the dash pod) .... so before I saw Stray's threads, I ordered a snorkle kit from "Snorkle Your ATV" .... I got it ... and in my opinion ........ What a POS !!! :angry1: ... nothing fit like it was suppose to ... anyway, as a stealth snorkle.

I ended up only using 3 parts from the kit & two pieces of the hose ... which I cut up ....... and snorkled the CVT Exhaust. And almost screwed that up ..... glued it all together before I checked my shifter movement & then had to "Rearrange" it ..... :sad11:

I kept the factory "Snow Snorkle" on the CVT Intake since it works great, is high, & has a waterproof filter on it.

And I ordered an EHS Racing airbox lid today ... :cheer:

My brother has an 06 & has had issues with stators & winching .... so we are gonna put dual batteries on his ride with an isolator .... and I ordered my parts as well :headbang: ........ maybe I don't need'em with a 2011, but I do lots of plowing & winching in the winter & I don't need to have that worry in the back of my head ....

And I'm hop'in to order some clutches next week .... if I hear back from Airdam .......... WOO HOO !!! Look'in a CVTech primary & from what I've read, the stock driven works great after Adam machines the belt surfaces. :icon_thumleft:

I'm also looking at the STM Roller Driven ... but haven't heard much about it other than it shifts up & down pretty smooth. :dontknow:

After THAT ........ I'm done !!!! :eek:ccasion14:

Yeah Adam at Airdam did a great job on my stock clutch. I did the stage 5 setup and it really works well. I'm pulling 82mph now on GPS with it.

I wanted to get a cvtech from him recently once I found out he was selling them. However, after leaving him 3 messages and sending 2 emails over the past two weeks with no repsonse from any of them, I have given up. I will either wait til I get my 2012 Renegade or find another cvtech dealer since it doesn't look like I am gonna have any luck with him. Shit happens I guess.

The STM secondary is supposed to be phenomenal but it takes some tuning to get it working right and to figure out what angle helix you need for your setup.

Let us know how it goes.

Yeah, I hear he can be a bugger to get in touch with at times .... here's hop'in I can when I want to .... :dontknow:

That's what kinda scares me about the STM ... I really don't think I know enough about these types of clutches to be dink'in around with them much .... and it's such a pain for me to try something ... test it .... make any changes I want .... and test it again. :sad11:

Why you ask ?? .... Well, this time of year, I have to drive at least 100 miles one way to ride  .... so ......... and even in the summer, I have to drive 50 miles one way to ride :BangHead:

But that STM clutch sure is pretty !! :beer"

THANKS Butch ... bowdownbowdown

Nope, not yet (riding 2-up) ... the wife needs another hip replacement so she won't be riding probably until mid-July or August ... :sad11:

I finished the front bumper ... here's how it looks now ... :cheer: :cheer:

And I'm still making other changes .... put an EHS airbox lid on today & removed the stock air intake & plugged it off ... put on a CVT exhaust snorkle (the intake comes stock snorkled) .... Doing a dual-battery setup tomorrow .... then I'm gonna header wrap my exhaust.

Next week I hope to order the XMR clutch covers & both new primary & secondary clutches !!

And I found a oil cooler & remote oil filter kit I'm gonna order ........ and then I THINK I'm done ...... :seesaw:

WHAT ?? :rotfl:
