I bought a 2011 Outlander 800R MAX-XT 2-Up in camo. I've had the bike two weeks ... and I only have 35 minutes on it .......... and I've had a hell of a time gett'in all the parts I wanted.
First, some of the mods I had the dealer install where ... twist throttle, High Pressure Gas shocks, Stainless exhaust cover, 3 mod module for Power Steering with tracks (it's on Back Order), Uni Air Filter, and CVT filter with Outwear for track use.
I had them take the front & rear bumpers off & the factory handguard.
Got it home & I started my parts ordering .......
I ordered Black Diablo Beadlocks ... which are back ordered (for the Can Am any way) until late April or maybe longer.
So after a week of try'in to find a wheel I wanted, I chose the ITP T7 Beadlock. It comes with the polished ring. I ordered black rings along with caps & lug nuts ......... sigh ........ the rings are on back order ??
The wheels showed up Thursday ... but no lug nuts or caps or valve stems .... those had to come from another warehouse & won't be here until Tuesday. So I bought some valve stems & mounted the tires. I used the lug nuts from my tracks .... so I could go riding if I wanted.
I will say, Matthew Bell at ATV Outfitters is one hell of a guy. I feel he went above & beyond to help me out & make me happy. THANKS Dude !!!
I bought a frame stiffener called the "Spine" from ATR. I prepare the frame to install it & WTF ?? ........ for the 2-up machine, it's suppose to be 61 inches long ....... I got the 52 inch one for a single rider bike ....... so they had to send out the correct one .... I check inside the frame to see where 61 inches is going to end up at ......... DAMN !!! ........ in the 2011 Can Am's the factory puts in a frame stiffener in the forward 18 inches ..... so now I have to cut the "Spine" to fit.
Then there's the "Keeper" that goes behind the "Spine" .... Yup, it's to long so I have to modify that as well.
Here I would like to THANK Jeremy at ATR since he also was very understanding in all this & went out of his way to also make me a happy rider !!!
Since Canned Hams have their storage boxes access in the middle of the racks (???) ... I wanted something I could mount my box & Roto Pax's to & if needed, would be easy to remove for access to the storage boxes. (The front one has the remote winch controls in it)
I found this Modular Rack system ... pretty pricey ... out of Canada ... it gets here ... and they (UPS) want another $50 "Duty Charge" ......... WTF ??
I call the company & bitch like hell ... they tell me this was the first time they used UPS & have never heard of this charge & offer two additional items to keep me happy .... SWEEEET !!!
Here's another great custome service guy, Shayne .... THANKS to him as well.
I didn't like the stock handlebars ... they seemed to low. So I order some Pro Taper Contour "Raptor" bars. They raise the handle bars where ya grab it about 3 inches, so a riser isn't needed.
I have some cool Pro Taper Fat Bar mounts for jap bikes. So I cut the bottom "Bump" off. Takes most the day to get that off & the bottom of the mounts level & square. Go to mount them on the steering stem ............ CRAP ......... the Canned Ham has a smaller spacing ... the mounts won't work.
So I call the dealer & order the mounts BRP sells for fat bars ... which are black .... and have to wait a week ........ they are way nice however ........
I wasn't crazy about the 2011 factory bumpers ........ so I ordered some others (alos out of Canada) ......... but I didn't totally like the mesh in the front one & the lower side tubes, since those would get hit with the tracks ......... so more modifing .........
I also didn't care for the factory tow point bracket out back ....... so I found one I did like made in Idaho ... and then took the rear winch mount I had on the Grizz & cut it up to keep the "Tow Ring" I had & bolted that up.
Bolted on the Ricochet skids plates .... which are gonna kinda give me fits next winter when I go to mount the new snowplow mount & the rear tracks mounts .... which are WAY different then on the Grizz. So I have some work still required come this fall to be able to run the tracks.
I felt the front inside was to open to mud & snow & such ... so I made some inner fenders using a different material than I had on the Grizz & used those platic push pin fasteners that gave it a clean, factory look.
Let's see ........ I think that covers about everything ..........
Here's a few photo's of the completed bike ...... again, I don't have the correct lug nuts on so no bashing, Savvy ??
AND ... Not sure if everyone knows what the "Spine" is
... so here's the link to the company & here's some photo's ...

Remember, if your bike isn't a 2011, you WON'T have to cut it like I did
