Since I've returned from Iraq, I have this almost uncontrolable desire for speed. This might be my fix. If I can just talk my wife into it. It's a really good deal on the bike...too good.

Here's what it has extra:

Fuel Buell Racing Motor Work
Jardine Exhaust (sounds awesome!)
Nitrous System (Never been used, just installed)
Dyno Shiftminder and Shift Light
Storz Stablizer
Pingel Wheelie Rack
Custom Corbin Sharkskin seat (Black)
Shock conversion kit (replaces monoshock with a straight strut for racing)

Here's the machine:

(you can see the nitrous bottle just under the seat)

Very nice! At one point in my younger life I had such a machine. A Honda Hurricane which was bored and stroked with nitrous. Oh how I used to tear up the Alamogordo desert roads with her. My my to only be 22 again........So when you getting it? Tell mama it's for a product review on Bueltorture.com. ;;s;; I know a guy (Heritage1) who can make that bike run very fast.

Re: MY NEED....FOR SPEED

Gentlemen, thank you for your support. We should call this site, or at least have a forum topic called Speed Anonymous. "Because admitting you have a problem isn't enough."

I think I have three problems. 1st and foremost is that I can't get the guy to respond to me. Is it a sign from God? 2nd problem is the wife. She forbid me to buy a bike, then I asked her if she would divorce me if I bought one, she said no, so it isn’t that bad. :laughing7: 3rd Issue is the guilt I would have going against the grain of my wife's (usually better) judgment. We are a team and we have to stay tight or end up like so many others.

I seriously do want this thing and with enough begging I could get the wife to comply. I went to sleep thinking about it. The thing that is driving me crazy is that it is being sold for less than I paid for my 660. The guy has hit some hard times and needs to lose the payment. I could hold the title to thing in no time flat. If it were not for this price tag, I woudn't even be looking at it. Why me? Why?

I got to ride one of the new Buells the other day with the 1125 Helicon engine at the rider day. Very impressive to say the least. Suspension feels awesome. After testing this one I am not so sure I would want the one with the Sportster engine.

Oh man .... there ya go ..... "Think'in" again .... Sometimes I wonder, had I not had the little woman around to .... temper my passions .... If I'd be typ'in this ?? :dontknow:

Then again ..... I learned some time back ..... I buy the toy (or whatever) .... & just like a little boy com'in home to Mom with a new puppy, I say in a very excited voice, ... "Honey, come look what I bought us !" .... :cheer:

Doesn't mean I don't get an ear full .... :sad2: .... :laughing7:

Gee ... hate to see have to pass up such a sweet deal ..... ;;s;; :laughing4:

Re: MY NEED....FOR SPEED

Thanks for all the...um...heart warming advice folks. I think I'll be passing this one up. For one thing, the guy has never replied to me...must be gone, two, I've got something else up my sleeve. I'm in seriousl negotiations as we speak. :laughing7:

FYI, the bike above is the 1125. Set up to drag but has never been raced. :evil6:

Re: MY NEED....FOR SPEED

Those fast street bikes are a lot of fun. I test drove a Kawasaki ZX-14 last fall, and hit 110 mph in second gear on a freeway frontage road (it was deserted, no other traffic for miles). Considering that it has a six speed gearbox, I didn't even want to know what top speed was in the upper gears. I almost bought it, but my wife told me she would divorce me if I got it.

I bought a street legal dirt bike instead. She was fine with the dirt bike, because I've had one dirt bike or another for 30 years. And now that I am driving the dirt bike to work and back every day, and getting 60 to 65 mpg for fuel economy, and I'm still alive three months later, I think she would be fine with me owning a street bike. Sometimes you have to ease into these things with the wife.

Good luck with your "negotiations" with the new idea.

Re: MY NEED....FOR SPEED

News flash...I almost got screwed today...not like a "honey I love you job" but a good ole fashioned sheep wranglin! I new the deal was too good to be true. A 2007 GSX-R 750 for 2900 in mint condition. It was almost believable because it was a female, and the word divorce was used. So I finally sold the wife on the idea of the bike, and told the person I'd do it. Then I get this "invoice" from "ebay" saying to send my money through "moneygram". Well I was immediately like wtf? Ebay using something other than paypal? So I waited until I got home and contacted ebay. Not one, but two customer service reps assured me it is a scam or "spoof" as they call it. I new something wasn't right. So anyway, I was upset but counted it up as good luck that I had sense enough to catch it.

Now, I've been contacted by the owner the pictured buell and I'm just not sure I can talk my wife into a 6500 purchase. I could just buy the nice KTM 400 street legal super motto and be done or just be an adult and say I don't need that stuff. Or I could just forget the hole thing.

Re: MY NEED....FOR SPEED

I'm doing good to ride the quad I have bro. I can ride a street bike or street ready supper motto to work everyday (weather permitting).

Not to mention those KTMs, the beauts they are, are way out of my price range for a new toy. I've seen a few YFZ's in decent shape for a lil bit of nothing but they're old news. And I want something I can drive to work.

Sights set are now set on another GSX-R but this time a 600 and a more realistic price tag. :BangHead: I've really got the itch...bad. :BangHead:

Re: MY NEED....FOR SPEED

Here's the latest thing on the radar. If this falls through I'm done looking:

"This sport bike is very clean and well maintained , has a Chrome Yosh pipe, K/N air/oil filter, new fork seals , brakes and fresh tuneup. Also including Suzuki cover and matching HJC helmet."

Re: MY NEED....FOR SPEED

Well if you haven't bought a street bike yet, I would suggest seriously considering a dual sport bike. I agree that the new KTMs are pricey little boogers with the difference in value between the euro and the dollar these days. But the freedom of a dual sport bike has to be experienced to be appreciated. It is fantastic to be able to ride on any paved road, any dirt trail, any forest service road, and in any national park because you have a license plate. I bought this KTM 530 EXC-R as a dirt bike, but when diesel prices went through the roof I started driving it to work and back every day. I really enjoy driving to work now, and at the end of the day I can't wait to get out to the parking lot and ride the bike again. On most days I take "the long way home" from work, which usually includes several miles of single track trails in the foothills. And I take a different route home each night, just to enjoy the ride. Dual sport bikes are fantastic. And I just filled the gas tank yesterday after two weeks of driving to work, and it cost me $4.89 to completely top off the tank. I've put over 700 miles worth of pavement riding on the KTM since I bought it, and considering the difference in cost between 60 to 65 mpg with the bike vs 10 mpg with the diesel pickup truck, I figure the KTM is going to pay for itself with fuel savings within two years. Just something to think about. Power is good for a single cylinder engine, third gear roll on wheelies are no problem at all. My KTM has a four tooth bigger rear sprocket to gear it down, and it still easily goes 95 mph+ (I backed off at that point).
