Sure does work well. Gonna line the inside with foam around the edges but I don't have any at the house tonight.

Nice work, I like the strip around the edge to clean up. I'd be careful though. I'm not even a mud lover and I always end up with a lot of mud and dirt on that black piece. I'd also be leary crashing through puddle.

Yeah, I know. I'm probably gonna make me up a piece out of fiberglass that will fit the hole tight and keep in my box so when it gets hairy, I can pop it in to protect that. Or just in case rain comes upon us while riding.

What can I say, I'm anal retentive about stuff looking good.
