<table border="0" width="100%"> <tbody><tr> <td width="78%"> I had the pleasure of reviewing a set of 27 inch Kenda K538 Executioner tires. When picking these tires up I noticed that the tires are heavy. The side walls were very stiff, with almost no flex at all. The tread was deep with lugs that looked like they would tackle any mud hole I could find. They also appeared to run a little on the small size for a 27 inch tire. The rim guard, which is extra rubber on the side wall of a tire near the bead area used to keep objects from wedging between the tire and wheels, is the best I have seen on an ATV tire. After installing them on my Grizzly 700 I headed out into the hills of southern WV.
My first day of riding was a mix of trails and mud with a hill climb thrown in. The tires did really well in the mud as I expected they would. These are primarily a mud tire. What was a surprise, after some air psi adjustments, were their manners on the trails. I had expected a rough ride because of the stiff side walls and deep tread lugs but to my surprise they rode very smooth. Because of the Executioner’s stiff side walls and relatively flat foot print they took corners better then a lot of the all terrain tires I have tested. The toughness of these tires should never be called into question. I found one of the most boulder laden trails I could find and pounded these tires off every rock I could find. It was so rough that I was worried I was going to break something on my bike. The tires held up to everything I could put them through. You won’t have to worry about snagging a rock and tearing a sidewall with these tires.

</td> <td width="81%">I did run across a few mud holes in my travels. The Kenda K538’s did as well as I thought they would. The tread is deep and open which allows them to clean quickly. They pulled me through every mud pit I could find with the exception of one. Not the fault of the tires; the best tires in the world are limited by ground clearance!
The Kenda K538’s tend to dig when in loose terra so they did not do real well climbing a coal hill I found. They have lots of traction and just dug into the loose coal. I made it up and over but I was a little worried and decided not to repeat feet.

</td> <td>I put over 600 miles on these tires before writing the review. The issues I have with these tires are the heavy weight and the fact that they seem to run small. The 27 inch size measured more like 26. The positives far out weigh the negatives with the Kenda K538 tires. The more I rode on these tires the more I liked them. The indestructible sidewalls gave me a lot of confidence on the rocks and the flat foot print produced trail handling that rivaled most the all terrain tires on the market. If you are looking for an all around tire that does really well in the mud holes I would strongly suggest you give the Kenda K538 Executioners you consideration.
