Kawasaki Heavy Industries will raise the prices of the 2009 motorcycles it sells in Japan and the United States to compensate for increased material costs, stated a company press release.

Prices are expected to increase 2-4 percent or roughly $188.40-$282.60. The company, however, will add new features to the bikes, like improved fuel economy and operability, to help maintain consumer demand.

Steel and aluminum are the main materials that have increased costs.
