I have been interested in one of these as well. They would be quite handy in clutch tuning. I have a question as to how is wired in. Is it inductive?
I'm probably wrong but isn't it just a ground wire and one to the sparkplug wire?
The Hardline states it is connected to the spark plug wire .... not sure how that is accomplihsed ... but maybe we could have ATV Torture get one (or the other) & do a product review ?? (I know this isn't the place to request this) ... ;;s;;

Too many things to buy ... handlebars, grips, I'd love some new tires & wheels ... & now a tach .... :crybaby2: ... I need to win the lotto !!!! ... :icon_thumleft:

I'm pretty sure a wire just wraps around the plug wire. I don't get how that works but it does.
Good point. They probably pick up the spark pulse like one of those timing lites that clip around your vehicle number 1 plug wire. :icon_thumleft:

Yep, just spoke to them on the phone. Lifetime battery .5 sec delay. The wire wraps around the spark plug wire. You may very well see a review of one in a month or so.

Here are specs....

* Works on any gas engine up to 2 cylinders and 8000 rpm.
* Firing pattern 1 spark = 1rpm

I kind of came in on the tail end of this thread. A tach is one of the good things that came standard on the wife's polaris. It is real handy when we jetted and tuned for the new exhaust system.
Well that's pretty cool .... too bad all the manufactures don't include them in the digital dashes (or whatever the other bikes have) .... I mean, it wouldn't be that difficult to add one when they're build'in the darn thing. :icon_thumleft: :BangHead:

Hey GrizzlyWizard .... I ordered one !!!! ... ;;s;; :cheer:

GRIZZLYWIZARD,
Recieved the tach yesterday in the mail. I hope to get it mounted on the Grizz this weekend.
It comes with some two-sided tape & two screws. I looked at different places to mount it & I thinik I'm gonna make a small mounting bracket & mount it just above the dash pod. Not sure how I'm gonna mount the bracket however ....

Once mounted, I'll be able to test it to see if it works, but I'm not going to be to go rid'in until next Friday.

Have you recieved the tachs you were promised yet ??

Well ... tried to post this once ... what a pain .... :angry4:

Alrighty, got the Hardline tach installed this morning. :toothy10: Made a bracket out of some 16 ga metal I had lay'in around & it turned out pretty nice, if I say so myself. :icon_thumleft: I don't like the gloss black paint, but that's all I had in the garage ... :sad2:

I mounted the bracket on the loop on the front rack & next to my GPS. I want to change how the wire is attached to the bracket, but this works for now.

I fired the Grizz up & I'll be .... it works ! :cheer:

It shows the Grizz is idling at about 1650 rpms. I revved the Grizz up & held the throttle & the rpms went up as well. There a bit of a lag, but no biggie. :icon_thumleft:

I think this a cool "Add-On" & will be interesting to watch while rid'in. I'll check it out on a ride, which will be next Friday. :icon_thumleft: ;;t;; :icon_thumleft:

Attached are a couple pic's ....
