Hi everyone....
What type of wrench are you using to adjust the front and rear shocks on your Grizzly. I went to the local Yamaha dealer and they didnt have any so I went to 2 different cycle/ATV parts stores and bought two different wrenches and they were both the wrong size.

Honestly, the easiest thing to do is skeet some wd-40 down in between the shock and the collar to get everything loosened up. Let it sit for a few minutes to trickle, then grab a pair of big channel-locks, grab the collar and give it the old twisty-twisty. The rears are a little difficult to get onto with the wheel on if your channel-locks are huge like mine. So, you may wanna pull the rear wheels off if yours are large.

I hope that helps.

I have a huge pair of channel locks that I used before but they seem to tear up the edges of the teeth on the adjusting thingy.... Maybe the WD40 is the trick.. I will try that now..

Try jacking up quad to take some of the pressure off too. Might help. Why wouldn't your yami dealer order you the part?
I have it jacked up.. I didnt order the part because the channel locks worked initially and I thought I could find an aftermarket part that would work... But,, I am going to the Paiute Trails this weekend camping and I needed to crank it up some because of the extra weight I am carrying..

Good point BG, i forgot to mention that about jacking it up.

I REALLY would not waste my money on the tool. I would jack it up, use wd and pliers and get-er-done.

That's great!

What happens is dirt and grit gets built up between the collar and the shock and makes it rough to turn without some lube. Ahhh, lube is always good. :beer" So, by skeeting some lube in, you loosened it up and made it easy to rotate with the channel-locks.

I'm glad it worked out and saved you a few bucks at the dealer for an un-needed tool.

Thanks for the tips lads and I will be trying the channel locks too . When I have remembered to ask for this special spanner wrench nobody seems to have one and I've been wanting to try adjusting the springs on my BB to get rid of a bit of roll . Thanks again .

Well I did as was mentioned here and lubed that collar thingy and had the bike jacked up . A set of channel locks and it moved smooth as a whistle . I would have kicked myself for buying that special wrench because it sure is not needed if following these very easy directions and readily available tools . Thanks again .

I'm interested to see now how the BB moves along with the suspension cranked up a bit .

So did you ride it or not. You posted at apparently 4:22AM my time so I'm assuming you didn't ride then but certainly enough time between now and then to give it a spin.

Did you tighten or loosen it?

I'm positive I already gave you my thoughts on how it's working Buster but it must have got deleted .

Anyways I cranked the suspension in, to one notch before max on the back and two below max on the front . So far I have only ripped around the yard and I find it sticks in the corners better without the body roll . I've been busy taking down and hauling trees but have not found any change there nor do I expect to but the real test will come when I take the BB on a two up tour . This is where I had issues with body roll and was often fighting the bars especially running along a side hill . I also think that big quadrax seat ,box I have on the back helps to create much of the body roll while riding two-up because of it's high centre of gravity .

I will be back with the feedback as soon as I get out riding two-up again .

So what's the hold-up, get out and ride.

Glad to know the suggestions helped.

Ahh Buster you slave driver you . LOL .I took the BB for a 45 mile run up some back roads to visit with a buddy and its a run I have done quite a few times . It has some hairpin corners and such and although not my real test of how increasing the tension on the shocks I definately felt there was a difference for the better .

I wish I could give my bride sometime off from work and doing chores around the house to take her on a backcountry tour to really see how much the BB has improved while riding two-up . LOL Maybe next time she will do her chores faster so she can go . LOL

Maybe she's coming up with chores as excuses cuz she doesn't wanna ride. I know mine would do that if I ever asked her to go. Chores would be an easier excuse than just saying I don't wanna go cuz I ain't interested.

Well actually my bride is great for wanting to get out and ride, hunt or fish Buster so no complaints here but mind you I had a couple of brides before her and each one has been better than the previous . LOL

Dang I wish I could get some of the good smilies you guys all have and use . LOL

Anyways since adjusting the shocks up and getting much more ride time on since, I'm impressed with how well the BB handles . She digs so much better in the corners and alot less fighting the bars when riding two up . It even feels sportier if sporty is even possible on a BB . LOL I should have done this adjustment a long time ago .
