The ratchet strap can be a hazard as well, when the tire blows up you need to release the strap at the same time the bead seats on the wheel. I have seen the strap get hung up an not release !! scary

I have a cheetah inflater which is used to inflate tractor trailer tires and big tractor tires - looks like a propane tank with a shute off the end

captjacked has a good point. I failed to mention that once the tire starts to take on air, stop and release the ratchet strap. No need be simultaneous. Otherwise that strap could prevent the tire from seating the bead, there inlies the danger.
Still better than playing with fire and easy to do out on the trail.
Also you have to have the tire unrestricted for this to work. Either put the wheeler on some kind of jack/rock/log/whatever or remove the tire. You will never begin to seat it if it has weight on it.
