<table width="100%" border="0"> <tbody><tr> <td class="style1">
The Product:
The FMF Racing Powerline ATV Exhaust is a slip-on system designed to “open up” your Utility ATV without increasing the sound level drastically. Keeping the rider in mind, FMF Racing also engineered this exhaust to be maintenance free using chambers instead of packing. It is a stainless steel beauty that will add a touch of flare to any ATV regardless of your color scheme. The FMF Powerline Exhaust comes with everything you need for installation right out of the box. The quality of the hardware supplied is top shelf and doesn’t take away from the appearance at all. Installation is a breeze with the quality instructions FMF provides. Even the novice ATV mechanic can install this exhaust with no problems.

In conclusion, I would say that the FMF Racing Powerline Exhaust is a great addition for someone looking to give their quad some pep, sound, and a customized look. I think those who use their ATV to hunt or ride where sound levels should be kept at a minimum will really enjoy this exhaust because you can stay off the throttle and keep the sound level down, but at the same time you can hit it and really stir up some dust.

After you install this pipe I recommend wiping it down with a non abrasive cleaner such as Windex to remove all finger prints. Otherwise when the exhaust reaches operating temperatures, it will “blue” the oils from the fingerprints leaving a permanent, and unattractive, decoration on the exhaust.

• The FMF Powerline has a USDF approved spark arrestor installed. This arrestor can be removed by the operator with the removal of a few bolts. Once removed the pipe becomes noticeably louder and doesn’t sound nearly as good. Performance was not tested without the arrestor installed and it is not recommended to remove it.

Because of this you may notice an increase in temperatures around your leg. It is not enough to harm the plastics but because I have customized graphics on my ATV, I installed a heat wrap to the header pipe. This modification did not drastically reduce the temperatures but it did reduce them enough that I felt very comfortable riding. This bit of information is probably not useful to many, but I shared it to let you know that applying heat wrap to the exhaust worked very well.

The Sound:
The Sound:
After the smooth installation, I was really surprised when I started the ATV. It was not loud! The FMF Powerline produces a very distinct sound that is not abrasive to by-standers or the rider. After a few adjustments on my dial-a-jet, I had the quad tuned in and I captured the sound levels. The Powerline Exhaust on my 660 Grizzly has a db range from about 80db’s to about 100db’s. These readings were captured in the saddle with the “mic” at my neck level. This is very comparable to the stock 660 Grizzly exhaust with a performance tip.

The Performance:
Low-End – Minimal sound increase with torque comparable to stock. The only difference I really noticed was the unique sound.
Mid-Range – Excellent torque with quick acceleration. This is where you can really start to hear and feel the Powerline Exhaust working. A “peppy” feeling describes it well.
Top-End – Torque and acceleration levels seem about the same as the Mid-Range. At top-end power levels you can really hear the pipe working. It isn’t excessively loud, but there is no question that you have a performance pipe installed at this point.
