OK, yesterday, I wrote that the new web site looked & acted awesome. Well, now I stand corrected ....... WOW !!!! ... Look'in Good Billy Ray !!!!!

Whoever put this together, IMO, did an outstandingly good job.

I do have one question .... do you plan on adding an option for more e-motion icons ?? Or just those that appear below ?? No biggie ... just wondering.

Gunny, we are sure going to add more emoticons. Just give us a few days.

Thanks for the compliments. BusterW and I came up with many of the ideas. My hat goes off to Buster for his programming ability, his imagination and patience to put up with my very short attention span through this entire process. Buster literally did the majority of the customizations that make this forum funtion the way it does.

And, it's only going to get better!

any chance you can raise the Avatar size back up? Even remotely hosted avatars are restricted a lot... :(

Also, is there a way to change the skin??
Some Web Site Questions

Been trying out some things on the new forum web site. Now I ain't bitch'in ... just mak'in some observations.
1) I assume the web site is still under construction, therefore, that may be what is causing the other issues, correct ?

2) If I click on any of the tabs (Garage, Gallery, etc) or I click on the most current thread tab (or whatever it's called) .... explorer crashes. Is that because of #1 ? This is what the error messages reads .... "Internet Explorer cannot open the Internet site http://www.atvtorture.com/forums/search.php?searchid=46"

However, the "UserCP" does open & a couple others.

3) It seems slow to load again ... same thing, cause of #1 I assume.

4) If I click on any of the advertisements --- Like the one with the Can-Am & the paddle tires ... it crashes. (See #2)
As a side note, as I wrote, I couldn't get much to work tonite, & I had to wait for an e-mail notice that Hebs had made a comment on this thread ... so the e-mail notification works !

5) I take it everything is starting clean ?? ... by that I mean, none of my PM's are there to view. Nothing under "Threads I'm Watch'in" & of course, since the garage & gallery crashed on me, I'm not sure about them.

6) I clicked on "Contact Us" .... nothing happened.

7) I clicked on the "Smiley Face" by each staff members name & call-sign (Nice Personal Photo's By the Way) ..... Internet Explorer crashed again. (See #2)

Now, maybe all this is something on my end ?? .... if it is, let me know so I can try & fix whatever I need to fix.

Anyway, just wanted to let ya know. And I assume again, a lot is still happening, & some testing is still going on. That's why I wanted to let you know about the above items.

GrizzlyWizard ... would you send me a PM ?? I tried PM'ing you, it was a No-Go ! Thanks.

Gunny,

WE are very much still under construction. Buster and I appreciate the input though. This has been quite the undertaking and there are many little nuisance things still hanging on us that we are crossing off the list as we get to them.

To put things in perspective. Buster an I began converting the forum last night at 2100. We had rehearsed the cut-over 2 times prior to actually commencing it. Guess what the 3rd times a charm. Nothing went right. I crashed on buster at 0230 to be able to go and do my real job at 0430. Buster continued working till 0400 and finally got most functionality restored.

We are close to completion, and many of the different functions that are going to dead pages are being used for our testing purposes. Hopefully things will be 95% complete in the next few days.

Be patient, this new setup gives us much more flexibility and ability to provide you guys with a better community.

There's a 9.8K limit on avatar size... I think ya meant to bump it up a lil higher...
Looking great guys. I'm really digging the new look. We're missing the "view unread posts" button.
Avatars shoud be fixed.

I too am missing the view unread posts button. we will need to work on that.

Actually Koko I recently discovered something. We have the button, it is hidden a little bit. I will work today on moving that button to the left side menu bar. Right now the link is at the very bottom of the page.

Here are some screen shots.

Gunny,

I spent the greater part of the morning trying to duplicate some of the failures. I did not experience all of the same symptoms.

Let me make a suggestion if you have not already. Try going into Internet Explorer and clear all temp files and cache. After you do that see if you get the same problems.

The "Contact Us" is now fixed. The smileys under the "Our Staff" are a generic picture I needed to used for page layout purposes. All the links are removed now. I am just waiting for the information to flow in from the "Review Crew" people now.

I know there are still going to be some bugs here and there. Keep us updated as you find them.

All in all this was one of the smoothest transitions from two completely different software packages I have participated in. But we can't take all the credit, you guys help us make this site even better with all of your feedback.

Thanks again folks!

I'll try those suggestions to clear temp files, etc. tonite when I get on my home computer.
Now, having said that, when I clicked on the link from the e-mail notification this morning, again ... crash.
I'll see if I have permission (rights) to clear temp files, etc. from my work computer. I know I can't clear the history (DAMN !) ....

All the staff's pictures (Smiley Faces) were just generic ?? Damn .... I was think'in ya all had the same dad !! ........ WHAT ??

Thanks for the laugh Gunny!
Well, I feel silly posting this, but just in case you guys haven't caught it, when I type in the chat room, each stroke of the keyboard makes a sound. I started typing and everyone in my office stopped and looked at me. Couldn't help but laugh.

And just to reinforce it, you guys have really done a good job with the site.
Well guys, thanks or the compliments on the new site and yes it is still kinda work in progress on a few of the things.

I'm researching the problem with explorer crashin noted above.

As for recent post, I encourage you to explore the "Menu" link in te upper nav bar as it will has a plethoa of options, including "today's posts".

You may want to go into the USERCP as their ae number o new features in there. You are also ale to change your posting editor to an advanced edito which gves more options ad possibl makes al off the old smilies show as well. I'll have to check into the smilies b/c initially I had all of the original ones displaying.

From your USERCP, you can also change the sort order of the threads so newest is at te top if you like, it they aren't already.

Since the old forum is down as is the old garage, you all will want to create a new garage and update your sigs since I see some of your old sigs are pointin to the old garage and are now disfunctional sigs.

A update on the smilies. You can do one of two things. You can see a large box of smilies on the right side of a post submission if you go into your usercp and choose edit options. Go all the way to the bottom and change the editor to "enhanced". However this option causes Internet Explorer to blow up currently so I'm working no that. Firefox works fine with the enhanced editor.

If you choose to use IE, don't do he thing above. Instead, at the bottom left corner of the page of a new post submission, there's a box that includes in it "Smilies are on". Click on th word smilies ad it will pop open a window tat has all of the smilies. Te left side column has the code to paste into the thread to make th smilie show up. This is an awkward way to get to them but it will do it nonethless for now if you're not using Firefox.

We do encourage using Firefox if you aren't however b/c it'sd a much more stable browser.

I've tried FF before but found IE easier to use. This probably b/c I've used IE forever and a day. I may play with it again. Jamey from GC hooked me up one time with a bunch of customization tips for FF.
