EHS Racing Rincon Air Box Cover Review

After installing the EHS racing cover on the Yamaha Grizzly 700. We liked the performance so much we decided the Honda Rincon was due for one as well. Eric at EHS Racing sent us the kit to get us started.
The EHS Racing air box kit arrived and off we went to get it installed.
Tools Needed:

  • Jig saw or coping saw.
  • Black marker
  • 3/16” Allen wrench
  • 7/16” Open end wrench
  • ¼” Drill bit
  • Hand drill
  • Sandpaper
  • Metal file
  • Safety glasses
Installation is very simple and EHS Racing has included very good instructions on installation as well.
Now let’s get on with the install….
<table border="0" height="0%" width="100%"> <tbody><tr> <td width="71">Step 1 </td> <td width="552">
</td> <td width="369">
Begin by laying all your parts out on your clean work space.
</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 2 </td> <td>
</td> <td>Center the aluminum plate on top of the air box cover so the EHS Racing engraving is perpendicular to lid retainer clips on the side.

Drill a pilot hole through one of the aluminum plates into the OEM cover.
</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 3 </td> <td>
</td> <td>
Put one of the included bolts through along with a nut and tighten.

Align the aluminum plate back and tighten the nut with the 7/16 open end wrench and 3/16 allen wrench.
</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 4 </td> <td>
</td> <td>Now drill a hole in the opposite end through the EHS Racing aluminum plate and repeat step 3.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 5 </td> <td>
</td> <td>
Trace around the inside of the Aluminum plate with a black marker once the aluminum plate is on and the bolts are tight.
</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 6 </td> <td>
</td> <td>Now remove the bolts and nuts from steps 3-5 and set the aluminum plate aside.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 7 </td> <td>
</td> <td>Drill a hole at one of the corners to create an entry for your saw blade.(Its easier if you drill all 4 corners before starting your cuts.)</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 8 </td> <td>
</td> <td>Once you have the hole cut out, file and sand all of the cut edges so they are smooth</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 9 </td> <td>
</td> <td>Align the Outerwears filter with the aluminum plate.Install the 3/16 allen screws and the rubber gaskets. The order should be …Air box…rubber gasket…filter…aluminum plate…
You will need to trim the rubber gaskets slightly to fit into the recesses on the OEM air box.
</td> </tr> <tr> <td>Step 10 </td> <td>
</td> <td>Now align the aluminum plate with the OEM air box cover and tighten the 7/16 nuts.</td> </tr> <tr> <td>

</td> </tr> </tbody></table> Now for the review part.

As with everything that we have received from EHS Racing the quality is top notch and customer service is second to none. Careful attention to detail is given to each part that is made. EHS Racing engraves its name into each of the aluminum plates truly giving it that custom look.
This particular modification actually performed above our expectations on the Rincon. Before you had to really be in a perfect spot to get the front wheels off the ground. After installation we were able to bring the wheels up with very little effort.
Keep in mind that this modification may not be for everyone. The installation takes about 1.5 hours and requires a minimal amount of skill with some common hand tools. If you do not feel comfortable in tackling a project like this on your own, you can purchase a completed kit installed on a new OEM air box lid directly from EHS Racing.
You will need to re-jet your quad most likely after installing this cover. We will be showing an instructional "How To" very soon.
We are happy to give the the EHS Racing Rincon air box cover the "TORTURED" stamp of approval.

  • Great Customer Service .
  • A must have for any performance modifications.
  • Great power gain.

  • May cause problems if riding in deep water situations.
