EHS Racing Grizzly 700 Free Flow Intake System

While it may be in an excellent location, the overall design is very prone to allowing dust contaminants into the power plant of the beast.
About a year ago we were give the opportunity to review the EHS Racing Air box cover for the Yamaha Grizzly 700. This product was quite fantastic in every aspect we could think of, and was a substantial improvement over the original design.
Now EHS Racing is at it again with another improvement for the Yamaha Grizzly 700. They have created an intake / filter system which uses a paper and mesh style filter element and a custom intake adapter which is machined out of 6061 T6 solid aluminum. This not only performs as expected which is great; but in our opinion it also protects your engine from harmful dust contaminates far better than the Grizzly’s stock setup.

Like all of EHS Racing products, this one is no exception. Attention to detail in engineering and manufacturing are trademarks in all of EHS Racings products. All of the components are top quality with this intake kit.
The intake adapter itself is custom machined from aluminum and made to adapt to the rubber intake boot of the Grizzly’s air box.

Installation of the EHS Racing intake required minimal skill. Permanent modification to the existing lower section of the air box is necessary to mount the new filter adapter. Don’t let this overwhelm you though; EHS provides extremely good instructions that will walk you through every step of the installation process.
The intake adapter fits very tight in the throttle body boot and is also clamped with a Yamaha band clampensuring a secure fit. It is then secured to the lower air box with 4 high quality stainless Allen bolts. This makes for very solid mount to the throttle body which is more than I can say for the stock setup.
Total installation time takes less than 2 hours; this includes the removal of the lower air box section, Drilling 4 holes for the intake boot adaptor and installing a smaller filter for a the fast idle plunger circuit that you will need to re-locate. Don’t worry, this is all explained in the instructions in great detail.

The Grizzly tested already had major air box modifications, so the ability to determine whether the EHS Racing intake helped increase horsepower was a bit inconclusive without the use of a dyno. It did however have a different and distinctive sound as if it was sucking more air into the intake which leads me to believe I may have actually increased air flow slightly. And at certain times I felt like the front end would come up just a bit easier.
After 350 logged trail miles in very dusty conditions, removal of the intake adapter and filter yielded a dust free intake…just as expected.
I did not notice any adverse affects when riding in deep water.

Cleaning and oil kits are available right now we recommend to use a K&N recharge kit. Or any other oil designed for a foam gauze type filter.

I found it extremely difficult to provide an impartial review of the EHS Racing intake system. I think the reason for this feeling is due to the fact that I have been very impressed with every product I have had the opportunity to test from EHS Racing.
The EHS Racing Grizzly 700 intake answers the problem of the poorly engineered air filtration system. The ribbed design of the air filtration actually provides as much if not slightly more filtration surface area over the stock system. Combine that with a 100% satisfaction guarantee and you have a product you can depend on for reliability as well as performance.
This alteration has given me the piece of mind that my engine will be completely protected from contaminants while riding in dusty environments. For those who run a stock air filter this will surely increase air flow, thus resulting in a necessary foundation for performance modifications. We are happy to give the EHS Free Flow Intake system the ATVTorture stamp of approval.
