That's some purdy thick ice then.
I guess that's the difference of having lived there for years b/c 24" of ice doesn't sound like enough to support a truck to me. Six inches of good ice will support a fullsize pick-up. If you want to see crazy check Ice Road Truckers on discovery. There are winter only roads up north that cross lakes and even ocean bays. These truckers haul 100,000 lb loads across 3' of ice. The "roads" are only open for about six weeks. A few weeks after that Ships use them. NUTS!

F it. use a wet suite. I believe in preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. If your going fast enough you will skip over the big holes. If not theres always the tube it.
A wet suit won't help much if you are under 10 inches of ice in a tractor trailer.
