I wish I would have the patience to do something like that!
That is awesome! Did you see the pic of the guy hanging from the gutter! I wish there was somthing like that around me, my little girl would go nuts! That also awesome that he gave all of that money to the kids, it shows that there are people out there that really do love the gift of giving! Not like half the people I deal with in a day...lol.Well, FWIW, the last video there (and the best in my opinion) is called the Holdman Christmas Display. He has his own web site devoted to the lights. In that video there are about 45,000 LEDs and about 7,000 feet of electric cord. The 2008 display has over 150,000 lights. (Can't wait to see these videos!) The gentleman uses the electricity furnished by the electic company BUT he returns the power back to the power grid with wind turbines. The music is broadcast over a low power FM Transmitter. Once you are in sight of the display, you tune your radio to 99.9fm and you have the music for the display.
But what is really great about this display? He has taken in over $10,000 in donations. What do you suppose he did with the money? Buy more lights? Nope. He donated the donations to the "kids Make-A-Wish" foundation. He explains that each childs wish takes about $5,000 therefore the donations have made two wishes come true. What's better? He gives the details of the actual wishes and the children who made them.
You can find all of the videos on youtube.com but he also has in them in better quality at his site http://www.holdman.com/christmas/. You will also find details about this amazing display and more at his site.
