Well it was time to replace the old wore out rear brake pads on my 06' 660 grizz. I got a little better than 1550 miles outta the origional pads. I called the Yamaha shop and made sure they had the pads. They did so I went down and picked them up. While I was there I asked how big of a job it really was to replace reear brake shoes on my quad. I had heard everything from almost impossible without right tools to they didn't make it easy to get to. I was very worried that maybe was more than I could get done before the rain came. I rolled up my sleeves and started to work. I removed both skid plates and made it easy to get to. A half hour later was all buttoned up and ready to ride or should I say stop once again. Moral of the story don't always listen to a tech at the local dealer because you are taking his job!

My fronts are barely worn of corse I never use front brakes unless I slide back down a hill backward :headbang:. I feel that is one fault with the grizz I have is the single brake on the drive shaft.

the engine braking is something I have just started mastering the whole engine braking thing. I still when I stop pull my rear bakes and when I need to stop quickly I will squeeze the front brakes.

I agree I love engine breaking. Problem is I still do not have 100% confidence in it as I shoudl I still find my self hitting rear break on descents.
