In our previous alert, we stated that an important survey is being conducted by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (DNR). We have been informed that this is not the case.

Below is the post form the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) website.

Recreation Surveys Available for Ontonagon County, Village, and Township

Ontonagon County is working with the Western Upper Peninsula Planning and Development Region (WUPPDR) to update its five-year Recreation Plan.  Anyone who lives in or is familiar with the county can assist in the planning effort by taking a short survey.  The survey is available here.  Paper copies are also available at the Ontonagon County Courthouse front desk, located at 725 Greenland Road, Ontonagon, MI 49953.

Meanwhile, the Village of Ontonagon and Ontonagon Township have consolidated to develop a separate five-year Recreation Plan. Interested persons may take that survey here. Paper copies are also available at Ontonagon Village Hall, located at 315 River Street, Ontonagon, MI 49953; and Ontonagon Township Office, located at 311 N Steel Street, Ontonagon, MI 49953.

The County survey will be available online through December 26.  The Township and Village survey will be available online through January 2. We strongly urge you to take both surveys.
