Belts and Clutches

Any input on how to take care of the smoking belt syndrome haunting our 07` polaris sportsman 450? We have already smoked one and it is $125 booboo!

Re: Belts and Clutches

1. Have you had the cover off to inspect the clutch sheaves?
A) Pull the cover off and put the bike in neutral start it up and note how the sheave moves in and out. Note any
type of wobble that may be indicative to the sheave being bent or out of balance.
2. Have you made sure the CVT intake and exhaust are not plugged up?
3. Have you swamped the clutch with water or mud any time in the past?

Re: Belts and Clutches

Along with the above steps.

What conditions are you in when you smoke the belt?
What size tire are you running?
Does it mainly happen when you are heavily loaded, pulling, or in the muck?
