Team FMF Suzuki Off Road's Charlie Mullins Captures the General GNCC

Charlie Mullins lived up to the high expectations placed on him in the AMA Grand National Cross Country Series by winning round two of the 2008 Grand National Cross Country Series, The General GNCC in Washington, Georgia. The FMF Suzuki Off Road rider took the race lead at the halfway point and held it to the end.

"I felt good all day," said Mullins, who struggled when he smashed an exhaust pipe at the season-opener a few days ago in Florida. "Nate rode well and he kept me pushing the whole time. I would look over on the motocross track and he would be in the same spot every lap, so I needed to keep pushing. Everything worked great, though, so I'm really happy."

Mullin's Suzuki-mounted victory came in just the second round of the GNCC series. In the opener Mullins fought his way to a 10th place finish with a crushed exhaust system hampering his ride. However, Team FMF Suzuk's Jimmy Jarrett's stepped up and battled his way to a second place finish. Jarrett is known for working into shape as the season goes on, so his runner-up performance on one of the most physically-taxing GNCC tracks was a revelation. I didn't get a good start, and then I got arm pump, and I knew this wasn't a good way to start the day, said Jarrett. It went away, and then I took a few good lines through those bog holes and I was right back in it. Now I'm in it to win it. Jarrett followed his podium in the opener with a strong fifth in the second GNCC of the season.

With Mullins victory and Jarrett's strong finishes, the two Team FMF Suzuki Off Road team-mates are tied for second in the Championship points with 41 each. With the edge in the title chase going to Mullins with a victory on his score-card.
