need help with front-end alignment

I need assistance. I had a front wheel pointing outward so aimed the bars straigh ahead and adjusted that wheel. Now, when I'm crusing with the bars straight, it runs straight but if I let go of them, it pulls hard right. I only adjusted one wheel and they are both aiming dead forward when the bars are perfectly aligned. not really sure how they could be wrong but they are. Anybody have a good method of straight alightment?

To get them straight I use an 8 foot piece of stainless tube running down the side from the rear wheel to the front and both side or flush so it should be right I think.

Any ideas are welcomed.

Thanks!
Buster

i don't know, buster. i'm assuming you've checked the tire pressure on all 4 tires. i know you said you aligned them to run straight forward, but there should be some toe-out. not sure how much on the renegade. i usually put 2 straight edges on each front wheel, extended out in front of the bike. assuming you're running 25" tires, measure 25" in front of the tire and mark the straight edge (both sides). measuring across from these marks will give you the toe-out X2. for example, if you should have a 3/4" toe-out, the distance between your marks would be 1 1/2". toe-out aside, it sounds like something's out of whack... has anything shifted on the stabilizer? you're absolutely positive that the steering stem, a-arms and frame are straight? no uneven wear on the tires? are both front shocks set up the same? for that matter, the rears could throw things off if they are not similar, left & right. a broken torsion bar may cause it to pull to one side. does the exposed part of the tie rod measure the same, or close to the same, on both sides?

just seems weird that you don't notice anything until you let go of the bars... keep us posted.
