Who has after market suspension on their ATV ?
I am in the market for a shock upgrade to my grizz 700. What is everyone using ?? What is the difference over the stock shock?
I have been looking at the top brands, I only trail ride , no racing or jumping. Any recommendation

Elka all the way man! They have an economical line that is still a mjor improvement over stock, plus their customer service is just phenomenal.

Re: Who has after market suspension on their ATV ?
I have Ohlins on my Grizzly. Very happy with the improved ride quality and handling. They are adjustable for compression damping and preload, but they have worked so well that I have not even touched an adjustment clicker yet.
When I was shopping for aftermarket shocks I ranked them like this ...
1) Ohlins = Elka
2) Fox
3) Works
4) Crutchfield (Bilstein)

Thanks,
I was wondering if I needed all the adjustments besides pre-load.

Re: Who has after market suspension on their ATV ?
Unless you're doing some very agressive high speed trail rides, I don't think you'll need the other adjustments. Just b/c you have them doesn't mean you'll necessarily need to change how they are set when you receive them either as 3TV said.
I haven't adjusted mine at all and they feel great. But, I just got my top end back together so really don't have but a few minutes of seat time on them so far.

Re: Who has after market suspension on their ATV ?
So how are the Elka's working out Buster? Now that you've had another month to evaluate them do you still feel the same way about them?
I finally got curious enough to adjust the clickers on my Ohlins shocks. My wife rode the Grizzly for the day when we went riding last time, so I turned the compression dampers two clicks softer. I did ride the Grizzly a little that day, and the Ohlins shocks were unbelievably plush on the rocky trail conditions we rode in. Just two clicks less damping made a big difference.

Re: Who has after market suspension on their ATV ?
The Elkas are actually doing very good. I would never go back to a stock suspension at this point. I love the lowered stance for better high-speed handling. However, on technical stuff, it doesn't do much for me just because it's so low it catches on everything. My ride heigh is 10" flat which is 2" lower than a stocker with the stock tires.
I believe I'm gonna have to either figure out a happy medium or when I'm going trail/technical riding, adjust them to a higher ground clearance so I'm not hanging on anything of size. Other than that, it rides an handles amazingly and I couldn't be more impressed.

Re: Who has after market suspension on their ATV ?
I am going to wait until after hunting season to get some. Lost some leases this year and finding new ones worth getting are real expensive !! A farm up the road just leased this year for 20k !!
My toys are going to have to wait.
