Helmet Cam

Since I stated I ride alone so much ... someone on this wweb site suggested I ought to buy a Helmet cam .... & that got me think'in .... what if ??

I did a search & found two threads about this subject, one dated 31 Oct 07 & the V.I.O. POV-1 Teaser ... but no replies & no review.
Then one dated 17 Nov 07 & the review of a Motocomm DSR-100. But again, no replies & nothing since.

So, I was wondering if the review crew would think about doing another Helmet cam review, but this time, not with one that is so pricey ??

I've been looking at the OREGON SCIENTIFIC ATC-2000 at this web site ...

Just a suggestion .... Thanks ....

Later ....

Re: Helmet Cam

I have also been contemplating getting a helmet cam. How come the one you post a link to is $600 less money than the one I have been considering? Is everything that is needed included for the $159 price?

The system I am considering is the one that is on the cover page of atvutah.com. Just go over to www.atvutah.com and scoll down on the main page, and you can't miss it.

Re: Helmet Cam

Why is the one I sent the link too $600 cheaper than the one you're look'in at ?? ... Must be I don't have your money !!! ..

Go back to the link, the one I'm look'in at is only $139. From what I read, it comes with everything I need except the 2GB sd card.

The one on atvutah.com is the same one that was in the thread dated 31 Oct 07, but nothing followed.

That is probably an outstanding unit, but I don't need a helmet cam THAT bad ... I'd buy new tires & wheels first ....

Re: Helmet Cam

I had started testing the V.I.O POV-1. Nice setup really and it did great video on the first run. Unfortunately other issues came up with the camera which I won't comment on. We sent it back to V.I.O with and have not heard another thing from them since.

That being said I am still holding up hope that they will return a new unit and we can conclude our review positively.

The Oregon Scientific is a nice unit for the money. Reports indicate that it is robust enough for ATV use. I have even contemplated picking a few of these up and equip them on our race quads for some killer race footage. But the resolution is not the best in the world in my opinion. An now that YouTube is increasing their broadcast resolution. You may want to get something that will do a little better job.

My favorite by far is the Motocomm DSR-100. Superb setup. Only thing I would like to see happen is a wireless remote to start and stop recording like the V.I.O..

Re: Helmet Cam

Grizzlywizard ... you're probably right & a guy usually gets what he pays for ... ... but I'm not sure, for me anyway, I even want to spend $300 ... ... but as soon as I say that .... if I would have had a helmet cam on some of my tracks ride this past winter .... I'd have some awesome video's to watch .... Why did BusterW even mention this to me .....

When I was doing a search for cams, I did see some wireless ones, but alas, they too were more than I wanted to spend ...

Maybe the cam will move up on my pirority list & I'll get one, who knows.

Later ....
