850 xp big problems

Last week i was on a ride and my stalled a couple of times. it started right away each time so i thought it would clear its self out. we came up to a fairly good holr so i eased into it and gave her some throttle while in the hole. it died. we hug it from a tree and got all the water draind. would not start tried new plugs still nothing. got towed home pulled the plugs one was hit with something in the cylinder. seems like the timing chain skipped and valves are bent i hope its coverd with warranty its only got 29 hrs on it. has this sort of thing happened to anyone else

Sort of sounds like you hydro locked it. I have heard it happening to other bikes that swamp the motor.

Good luck dude, keep us updated as to how Polaris handles the warranty.

at 29 hours most engines are approaching their service intervals. While that shouldn't stall your engine and it certainly shouldn't be destroying valves and other things, it might feel like a lack of power until you get the valves readjusted and the first servicing done. My renegade did that same thing where it would stall in the middle of a ride. Mine was due just to loose battery cables. Once I got it fixed it's run great ever since. If you dropped into a hole, you may have sucked some water up into the motor. That could explain the stalling in that respect. While water isn't a good thing for your motor to be breathing, it seems like it should have started back up again once you got it dried out. You will want to check your tranny case and make sure it's cleaned out as well. Check your battery cables and make sure their good to go. What kind of riding were you doing before it started stalling on you?

maybe when the bike stalled water went into the motor and the piston tried to compress the water. and broke a arm on the piston

just a thought also

i dont think it was hydro locked because it cranked over fine i was riding aggressive before this happened. if there is a hole im in it. i also forgot to mention one spark plug got smashed up its like there is something in the cylinder. it is now at the dealer i hope their good to me i spend alot of money there. i also have a x2 which has been buried alot and i never had a problem. maybe go back to old faithful. 850 looks good but this sucks. i let u know what the dealer says i think im screwed.

Well Polaris is notorious for not haveing good warranty service. I hope, for your sake, that your dealer steps up to plate if there is indeed a claim. keep us posted and good luck man.

sounds like you broke the timing chain, or tensioner. i would think, at 29 hrs, the warranty should cover it. the mudhole you were in may "muddy" the warranty claim, however. good luck, let us know how things turn out...
