LTE Racing Exhaust - Can Am Outlander

LOONEY TUNED EXHAUST – FULL DUAL SYSTEM – 2009 OUTLANDER 800R

When I set out in search of an exhaust system for my 2009 Can-Am Outlander 800R, I knew it deserved a dual exhaust. This was simply apparent by the sound of the stock machine. It has a sound similar to that of a road bike in stock form. It begged for more attention. I turned to the internet and catalogs with a purpose and one name kept showing up in from of me. I couldn’t resist this “continuous” temptation.

Looney Tuned Exhaust Racing – Continuous Threat”

Looney Tuned Exhaust Racing (LTE) is a company based out of Redwood Valley, California. They have been in the business of ATV Performance modifications for over 10 years. All of their products are hand built to the strictest specifications which have been obtained by many hours of testing. When I contacted Looney Tuned Racing I was immediately greeted by a gentleman who without a doubt had a superior knowledge of the products he was representing. There was only one question I had in mind though. “How much horse power will it generate?” LTE responded with a staggering 13% increase! I had to have it!

What I received was a full dual exhaust system. New headers, new mid pipes, and a stacked dual can system. I also received a new Looney Tuned Racing EFI Controller to ensure I got the maximum punch from the exhaust system. The system came with all the necessary hardware, a heat shield, and some detailed instructions.

When I first saw the system I knew I was in for a real acoustical treat. The mid-pipes were larger and the exhausts were obviously a free flow system. The craftsmanship of the system was immaculate as well. Very rigidly built with a lot of attention to detail is involved with these pipes. I couldn’t wait to get these babies installed!

In order to install this complete system, you will have to disassemble the Outlander’s plastics a good bit and I recommend not taking any short cuts in this department. The more of an open area you have to work with, the better off you will be. Installation is not difficult beyond the normal tight fit of working on an ATV. Even hooking up the Looney Tuned Fuel Controller is very simple. Both the pipe and the controller’s detailed instructions allow you to breeze through the process in not much time at all.

The LTE Racing exhaust provides a 13% HP increase over the stock exhaust system.

When I first started the Outlander with the Looney Tuned Exhaust on it I immediately began to smile. Just the idle sound of this system is so incredible that containing that school kid smile is pretty much impossible. A quick tap of the throttle brought the next stage, giggling, like a school girl. There was no doubt left in my mind that Looney Tuned Exhaust Racing was serious when they said they could produce 13% more horsepower with just their pipe. The fuel control system out of the box is set for an open air box and the full system. I am currently running my air box closed, but I let the settings stay because there were no apparent issues at this point.

After I quit drooling over the sound of this exhaust, I went for a ride. This was undoubtedly the ride of my life. This system produced immediate results. The throttle was crisp and super responsive, the rev was fast and powerful, and the system provided extra boost throughout the entire power curve and as you go deeper in the throttle, the sound only gets better. You can literally feel the difference with this pipe installed. Having ridden with the pipe installed for a fair amount of time, I ended up adjusting the fuel controller for the mid-range as I felt it needed it. After that adjustment there has been nothing but white knuckles and toothy grins!

LTE provides several silencer options for you to choose from.

Polished Silencer--------------- Black Powder Coat------------- Brushed Aluminum-------------Creech Series

I have provided a collaboration of short clips below to give some idea of the sound and power this thing produces, but it doesn’t do it any justice. Until you actually install one of these bad boys and run it, you simply won’t be able to understand. You can however, trust every word of Looney Tuned Exhaust Racing’s claims though. NOTHING they told me was questionable after installing and riding this system. It is quality, it is power, and it is fun. With an unimaginable 13% HP increase providing seat of the pants gains, a wonderfully crafted system, and a sound that will make Harley Davidson and stock car drivers smile, I give this system our seal of approval.
