The .499 LWR packs 2,180 fps with a 300 Gr. Bullet.
The Beowulf packs 1,950 fps with a 325 Gr. Bullet
The .458 Socom packs 1810 fps with a 300 Gr. Bullet.
With all the muzzle velocities and bullet weights being directly proportional to each other that make the muzzle energy to be in excess of 2100 ft. lbs of energy.
So with more kinetic energy and better ballistic coefficient the .499 will inevitably give the end used a longer and flatter trajectory and inevitably better maximum effective range.
Physics class is dismissed.

Now I'm just talking without researching but what kind of package does the .499 come in? I was more impressed with the 458 because of the available compact designs. I'm gaga over hard hitters in compact packages.

Well unfortunately it is a larger platform based on the M16A1. A 20 inch barrel and obviously heavier payload makes CQB ops a little more challenging. Me personally, I would prefer a tactical 12 Ga. with 00 buck.
Now the .458 and Beowulf com in 16" M4 configurations. Mine actually is an M$ carbine variant.
