2010 Brute is up on Kawasaki website and no change. 2010 KFX not up yet. 2011 is when the weight limit treaty expires.
Yeah, it will be a no holes barred event when the weight limit expires. I am hearing rumors of Suzuki stepping in with a 900 CC as well as the 2011 Can Am going to 900 CC. Yamaha will surely jump into the mix as well with something major. That has been the main thing holding them back is the weight limit deal.
Now keeping our fingers crossed, and hoping that the current administration does not start imposing EPA restrictions (which considerations are on the table) on these larger machines, we may just see some serious HP wars happening. I have my fingers crossed!
something tells me that weight limit treaty won't just "expire" If anything it will get more strict. Kawi, just needs to make a brute with power steering.
Then again that new Gade with the power steering is tempting.
The only downside to a hp war I can think of is the extra weight. I like how my old Grizz and new Brute are relatively light so to speak. I like how they feel and have no problem maneuvering them around but add another 100lbs and thats not the case. I have ridden other heavier quads and did not care much for the feel of the ride. Yes it may have been little smoother but the fun factor was not there even if they were faster. Maybe I'm old school lol!

I was told by a FR last yr of the New BF900, he too said a possible '10 release date.
Just in the past month I spoked with a different FR, he said Kawie decided to hold off on the new 900 till the ATV sales picks back up, the main reason that there is a $800 rebate on the 750's now, all yrs are covered, as some dealers still have New 08BF750's in stock.
He said Kawie just would of released the new 900 as a early release '11 in 2010, still could happen but don't bet on it.
Last July I bought a New Outlander 800, got a real good deal on it. I sold my perfect running excellent '08BF750 and was looking forward to riding the 800. I mean gee whiz, all of the high ratings these Can-hams get, they really must be excellent 4wheelers.
After just 150 miles, I hated the 800. This 800 was Not the XT model and still weighed 90 pounds heavier than my BF750. I had to get new aftermarket wheels for it b/c the stock wheels wouldn't allow any tire wider than 8". Ok, no problem as I always switch out tires and wheels anyway. After just 150 miles the front shock springs were sagging, I lost 2" in ground clearence. Handling was poor, the Brute will Out Handle a Stock Can am 800, any year, any day. Steering bump was even worse on the 800, thumb throttle had way too much tension, poor single lever brakes and my Beefs are even more. I was so dissappointed I sold it after 3 months of ownership, replaced it with this New 09BF750, I would of bought a 10 BF750 but the Team Green isn't available for the 2010 BF750's.
That extra weight on the 800 really was the killer, there was no way I could ride the 800 the way I could ride the Brute 750 on the trails, as the 800 fought against me, tried rolling over on every ride, it just didn't want to stay planted on the ground.
Weight is the biggest concern I have with this New BF900, there is no way the weight will be the same as the present 750, I expect at least another 100-120 pounds heavier. That is why I just went back to the proven and reliable BF750, as I like the power & weight & the Brakes on the 750.
The one thing I learned about the Can-am 800 Outlander is the following: they are Overpriced, Over Rated and all Hype. imo.

Clearly you had a bad experience with your Outty but I can't say enough about my Renegade. As a matter of fact, of the folks I know personally that have Outtys and Renegades, you are the first I have heard say they disliked it.
I will say however, if you had single lever braking, you were on an 08 and I would not have considered buying an 08 simply because, for that one year, they had a single lever control all 4 wheels. Stupid on the BRP part but they quickly tossed the idea.
Me having come from a Grizzly with EPS, I do miss the EPS but could easily get it by selling mine and getting a 2010. However, for teh price, it just isn't a big deal to me. I have no problem controlling the Renegade on fast, tight trails and certainly have never gotten close to rolling it.\
