Ideas for '05 KFX400!?

So I was messing with a buddy's KFX 400 today and he hasn't rode in a long while, and of course he didn't make sure he drained the fuel or even run it out of the carb before he parked it. What we are planning on doing is oil change, new plug, new battery(the one on it isn't right so seat doesn't fit), and trying to clean out the carb. any other suggestions for getting it back on the road, oh yeah and new gas! Also was wondering what kind of mods we can do to it? I looked at the airbox today, and wondered if you take the inlet that is attached to the box lid, out would that increase air or not help at all? Thanks for your help!

Depending on just how long it set, I might look at the joints to ensure they are stable and all other moving parts are in good order. Some things you might not notice until you ride but I'd def. give it a good inspection.

As far as the inlet goes...I'm not sure. I'm not a sporty guy nor am I a kawi guy, but if you were looking to increase the air flow look into Thunder Products TPI Valves. I have a review about to be released on these and they might have one to fit your box.
