BRUTE FORCE 750i HANDLEBAR AND RISER INSTALLATION

While reviewing the 2008 Brute Force 750 one of our biggest complaints in the machine so far is the overall handling. Part of it has to do with the way the tires are originally in-tow from the factory while the other is handle bars and frame geometry. Well part of this we can fix.

After doing some quick research and measurements we had decided that the 3 1/2" Rox risers from Rox Speed FX along with a set of Trail Tech X-bars in the low height would fit our intended setup nicely. This would be enough height to put the bars slightly taller than stock and allow for a better hand and arm angle for our aggressive riding style.

The only drawback to installing custom handlebars on the Brute Force is the location of the display pod and housing. We had to custom fabricate a mount to allow us to re-locate the display in a good position. These will be available soon for purchase from Nuclear Powersports.

First we start by removing the phillips screws holding the outer information pod housing and setting aside.

Next step is to remove the lower trim piece to allow access to the display pods’ harness connector.

Unplug the information pod and set aside.

Next begin by removing the handlebar controls

With the handlebar controls free on the left side begin repeating the process on the right side of the handlebars.

Remove the thumb throttle housing and assembly.

And the brake and reservoir assembly.

With all the handlebars controls disconnected you are now ready to remove the handlebars from the quad.

With the handlebars removed we can begin installing the Rox risers. Keep in mind we are only pre-fitting, so you do not want to tighten the risers down tight right now.

Now we place the Trail Tech X bars in the new Rox risers and just barely snug the screws down to allow us to adjust the handlebars as necessary.

Now is the time to sit on the quad and adjust the bars for a custom fit. Once you are satisfied with the position of the handlebars we can snug them down even more but do not completely tighten yet. We just want to keep them from moving while we re-install the pod.

Next we begin modifying the cable retainer to allow us to re-utilize the vent line holders. We simply just cut the wire surrounding the cables taking care not to cut into any cables. It looks a little crude but it was efficient.

Now we can begin re-assembling the handlebar controls.

Once the handlebars controls are re-installed sit on the bike and get final adjustments. Now you can tighten them down to the proper torque specifications.

Once the handlebar controls are on and the handlebars are tightened down try moving your handlebars left and right all the way. Check for kinking or binding cabling.

Now we install the display pod to the custom mount.

After our final fitting and adjustment, torque all bolts to the proper specification and the installation is nearly complete. We then plug in the information pod turn the key on to test proper operation and replace the lower trim piece.

INSTALLATION COMPLETE!

My first assessment.

This is a necessary modification if you plan to use the 750 Brute Force for riding in fast trails. The Trail Tech X-bars give a much more solid feel and help in absorbing vibration. The different sweep the bars have, will give the rider the ability to cut harder into turns with this machine now. For the variety of riding situations that we do this is modification is a must. And may be one of the best performance modifications you can do to your quad.

Nice write up and install! I'd like to try those out on a Grizz. My heated grips are the main thing holding me back.

I have the Rox 5" risers and the Universal Solex on my Grizzly and they are awesome. I can't stand to ride Turtles Grizzly with the stock any more. It just doesnt feel like I am in control of the quad. By far the best investment I have made on the Grizzly to date.
