To add to my list of reasons to deer hunt:
I bought my wife a BRAND NEW SUV. First brand new vehicle she has EVER had. She loves it. She gathered up the kid, her sister and her kids, and headed off to the National Zoo in D.C. They had a wonderful time looking at all the wild animals and riding the Metro Train. They succesfully navigated the extremely busy freeways in the Northern VA area without incident. They get within 8 miles of our house and BAM! They hit an efin deer. Mind you this is in the CITY. The deer ran out of a GAS STATION parking lot and collided with my wife's BRAND NEW SUV!
When she called me to tell me the news, I made sure everyone was ok, which they were; I then told her to kick the crap out of the deer. But it was too late. Someone else plowed into the deer as it was trying to get up with four broken leggs.
I HATE DEER!!
Extra note: There was a gentleman pumping fuel at the gas station who witnessed everything. He saw the deer run past him, into the road, get hit (by our BRAND NEW SUV), then get hit again. He said it was very disturbing. LOL.
Extra note 2: The SUV is still driveable, and to look at it, you can not tell anything happened other than the license plate being bent and holding deer hair. The dealership estimated $2,000 in damages. It bent the radiator, moved the a/c compressor, broke the bumper and grill, and knocked a heatshield loose. Good thing we have great insurance.
