More power out of a Rancher

How much more power can you get out of a rancher 420 efi by adding an aftermarket pipe?

You should be able to expect a few horsepower. You may also need a fuel controller also in order to get the air/fuel ratio proper. It should be a noticable gain. Just keep in mind that it will be slightly louder.

You might also consider opening up the airbox if possible.

You might consider these (Click Here). While the review isn't published yet, I can tell you these things are pretty nice. A good value as well. I had two on my grizz 660 and liked them. When it was time to powerwash the grizz, I'd just close them up. The same could apply if you were about to go mudding or cross a respectable water hole or creek. I'm not familiar with the design of your airbox, but it's worth looking into in my opinion. If you do, tell them you heard about them on ATVT.

Let us know what you find out.

I don't know what the airbox on a Rancher looks like but EHS racing makes a really nice airbox product. While they don't make one specifically for your rancher, they have a few different universal sizes that you might could make work. Check out this page, in the bottom right corner of the product table for the universal sizes.

If you added a pipe, fuel controller and opened up the airbox with a proudct like the EHS one or the one that Battlegun noted below, you should see some gains in your quad's performance.
