Hi all….I understand brand loyalty and personal preference, and I am asking for your opinion on why you would chose a particular ATV given the criteria listed below. In responding please respect others responses is they differ from your opinion.
I am new to the sport and have agreed to go on a week vacation to the Hatfield McCoy trails in Virginia with (2) 40 year olds big 4x4 Kawasaki and 500 Honda 4x4 Forman(3) 18-19 year olds (Raptors) and have to purchase a ATV, Me I’m 50 year old in good physical shape and have ridden dirt bikes back in the day. Since I am still a speed freak at heart I had two choices for speed with out getting tickets…. ATV’s or boats. I had the boat, fun, fast big-block 502 however can’t afford the 100 gallon fill up’s, snowmobile season is too short that only leaves ATV’s.
Criteria:
• Do not want to lose to 18-19 year olds (at least keep up)
• Speed…. something I can modify later
• 4x4 a plus
• Power steering? Do I need it? Have a slipped disk that acts up occasionally
• Like the way sport quads look better than utility quads (not a deal breaker)
• Good ride…..not necessarily plush but solid
• Auto trans a plus
• New or used?
