June Contest Entry #2 - Brake Cleaning

Submitted by: 403Grizz

I have a tip with cleaning brakes for mud riders. After every hard ride, I always take off all my wheels and power wash out my calipers, and make sure no mud is stuck to the pads or rotors. Having clean brakes will allow them to functions better, have less drag, and your brake pads will last longer. Another thing is when you change your pads, your piston on your caliper will be out, use a little emery cloth to polish them, and the carefully spray with wd-40, if you use grease to lubricate the piston it will actually collect dirt and dust and cause then to seize.
