Wow I for one like the original design. It is crisp clear and very sharp It will catch eyes attentions. I for one vote for that. I love the sproket in the back as well. If I have any little say stay with that.

Problem is the dynamics of our current banner looks good with the colors we have integrated with it. Once you remove the other colors and go to a single color on black or white background it loses a lot of flair.
I meant the design that was posted by Buster. The image. That is real sharp.

I THINK GrizzWiz was responding to the question about using our current banner image for print and stitch work. What he's trying to say is it looks great up there but it's b/c the background I've made for it. When it's on a white background, it's kinda boring. However, I must say I just looked at the banner image on a black background and it's not bad. That being said, I still like the flare of the throwing star/sprocket image below myself.

Is that was that is? It reminds me of something from Star Trek. I'm not saying that that's a bad thing, just making an observation.
AS for the banner image....you could incorporate a color coordinated background into the image. Say maybe enclose the ATVTORTURE thing in a box with a red, orange or blue background.
For screen printing we need to try to stick to 2-3 colors total or the price jumps. However, if there are enough that want the high-res logo shirt, multiple colors may be an option.
If we used the banner image, on a black shirt, this is what it would look like. Looking at the other logo, at the bottom of the page on a shirt, it don't look good.
I like both logo's. I believe no matter what the consensus is I think both logo's are simple and to the piont and weather or not it has a tire track or something that ties us to the atv world the name itself says it all.
