Sounds like you still have a cord stuck in it somewhere. Maybe one of the Can Am guys will chime in with a fix for you.

Do you have the tool to remove the secondary? If not, maybe your dealer will let you borrow their's or you can buy one from them for about $20-$25. You have GOT to have it to remove the secondary. I am guessing that the helix broke and it won't allow the secondary to compress because the parts are lodged in there. There are only 2 moving parts in the secondary. There is a spring and the helix. The helix is a plastic material and has been known to break. If the belt did all that, it could have put too much force on the helix and shattered it.

And your title says the secondary won't close. Do you mean it won't open and that it is stuck in the compressed state. As you rev, the secondary decompresses and opens up so the belt goes down inside of it real low. I was assuming you meant that it was stuck closed and would not let the belt go down. If it is stuck OPEN, meaning spread apart, this could be indicative of a broken spring. If it is stuck open, then with the belt removed you should be able to slide it back and forth from open to closed. I guess if it is is indeed stuck open, that could still be a shattered helix and the pieces got wedged in there so it would freely move.

Let me know.
