I only have one of each type. One dirt bike, one street bike, one ATV, one Jeep, and one truck. Oh, and one car. The new 2010 Renegade in my signature is my wife's.

Turns out they would pay me $5400 for my ATV, and they would sell me the new Can Am for $14,700 OTD. Only $9300 difference. This was their best offer, after considerable time haggling.
How would you take that? I'm thinking either; A) they don't want business, and this is their semi polite way of telling someone to take a hike, or B) they really think they can gouge people like that, and people wont care.
I don't know what to do. The local places are hurting bad with the economy right now, and I've been trying to support the local businesses for years now. I bought my 2009 Can Am at this dealership, and I bought my Yamaha FZ-1 at this dealership just two months ago. But now instead of being someone that is doing their best to support the local business I am someone that doesn't plan on going back again, ... perhaps ever. The sooner they go out of business, the sooner we have the chance to get a better dealership is kind of what I'm thinking.
Later on the same day I drove 50 miles with my Can Am in the back of my truck to the next closest dealer and got a price that was $3800 better. Still not good enough, but getting closer. I figure any place that is charging $3800 more than their closest competition is gouging you pretty deep.

Hey man, thats a canadian price right? cause if it is, they are asking 200$ more then what it is listed on the can am site, and the site says, retailer may sell for less or something like that, and i deff would NEVER shop there if there only goin to give you 5400$ for you gade, sounds like a BRUTAL dealer... and i called a can am dealer 2 days ago, a reguler 2010 can am renegade would be $11100 for me to buy

Shop for price! I try to stay local, but if I can save more money buying elsewhere and the local placed don't want to play ball then so be it.
But honestly, list your current Gade on Craigslist. In all my experiences of buy sell and trading, you just make out better than trading in.

Guys I think this is old news. As his signature states, he owns the new Gade (or his wife owns it). He wasn't buying a Canadian model either. He lives in Utah I believe.

True story. Those were US prices. I tried to buy local, but the dealer wanted way way way too much profit on the deal. I bought it at another dealer 107 miles away for a $3600 better deal. I ended up keeping the '09 Renegade and selling the Arctic Cat Thundercat we had purchased instead.

I have not set foot inside their store again since that day, and that was in July. The local dealer has been really hurting for the last year or more because of the economy. I used to go out of my way trying to buy things from them to help keep them in business. Now I just avoid them altogether, and figure the sooner they go out of business the better.

You know, I have ran into so many dealerships that have this same attitude. Having worked in the service industry for so long, I see that the customer is the reason why I have work. For whatever reason great customer service does not apply to the powersports industry. Or at least a select few dealers. It seems that one out of five dealers go out of their way to make sure you have a great experience with your purchase.
When I have a good dealer experience I want to patronize their establishment even more. I feel more confident with them during service visits. I recommend them to friends and family.
Much like you 3TV I have had terrible experiences with dealers. Most of them I have never stepped foot in their building ever again.
Why do these dealers act like they are doing you a favor when you go into their store expecting to spend 8-13 K on a recreational machine?
