The 2010 is the same motor as the 2009. Though the 2010 has power steering making it heavier, yet the front shocks have been revamped to be lighter and they actually degreased wheel travel to give it a lower center of gravity(I don't know if I like the idea yet) havent ridden a 2010 so I couln't tell ya. The 2010 is 7lbs heavier at 614lbs, the 2009 was 607lbs. Seven pounds of DPS, front swaybar, and new heavier yet tougher true beadlock rims. All worth their weight I can only guess. I understaind the DPS and the Beadlocks but still wondering if the swaybar is worth it's weight?

We have an '09 and a '10, and the '10 corners much better than the '09. I'm thinking the swaybar helps.

Yes it corners better, but do you notice the added weight? I only ask because I love to race and I love beating the 700Rapters and well, everyone else I've raced. Though the races with the 700Rapter are real close. I will be installing a Ron Woods exhaust and a Dalton clutch kit to really leave him. So, I wonder have you raced you're new 2010 Renegade800 verses you're KTM 505? If not please do so with an experienced driver on the 800 and a superb shifter on the 505. I would love to hear the results and the distanced raced. The info would be very helpful, THANKS SO MUCH

The '09 beats the '10 in a drag race, likely because it has a Ron Woods exhaust, and the '10 has the stock exhaust. I cannot feel a difference in weight when riding one ATV and then switching to the other ATV. I do notice the '10 has a better suspension and corners better. I can ride the '10 faster everywhere except in a straight line on smooth ground. The Ron Wood exhaust makes quite a difference in performance on the '09, but the rest of the X Xc chassis on the '10 more than makes up for it in the rough stuff, or in turns.

I haven't raced the KTM 505 against the ATVs, because we tend to either go motorcycle riding, or go ATV riding, but rarely take both with us when we go out for a weekend. But I don't think there would be much of a contest. It is a challenge just to hang on to the KTM, it hits so hard it will literally rip the handlebars right out of your hands if you're not really paying attention. The 505 is the fastest bike KTM makes, it has the 450 motocross motor, with the same short stroke, but a big bore piston in it. I've owned several bikes, including this KTM 505, a KTM 525, a KTM 530, a KTM 300 (open class two stroke), and a YZ450F. The 505 will spank them all. I've yet to see anything else hang with the 505.

Something to also consider when comparing 3TV's 09 to his 10 is that not only does the 10 have a sway bar, but his 10 is an Xxc where the 09 is a standar Renegade. So, the stock suspension on the 09 can in no way compare to the 10. Now, had he had a 09 800-X, it may be a more useful comparison in regards to suspension.

Were there any engine mods done by Can Am between the two years? Anything like a different cam, tranny mod or head changes?
