Thanks for the response.
I'm feeling kinda dumb here, but I wonder if the needle didn't get jarred loose or one of the other jets? Maybe a senser somewhere got knocked loose or a hose? Have you given it a once over to make sure all electric items and hoses/cables are secure?

I didnt have a chance yet to give it a good once over, and I was not that familiar with it yet because I just got it and only have 250 miles on it. I was kind of thinking it could also be something with the fuel pump or a line getting jarred loose in the tank. I have not looked yet but I am pretty sure it has a fuel pump in the tank. I was hoping someone else had the same problem and could save me a lot of time.
Thanks again for any suggestions.
P.S. I am kind of new to this computer and the first forum I have ever been on, and have little Idea as I navigate thru the site what a "thread" even is. So I am learning as I go here. If you have any suggestions, feel free
Thanks

No worries my friend. A thread is simply this conversation or a series of posts to a topic. No one here is that uptight that we don't understand when people are new computers or the sport. As for your quad, it kinda baffles me. I would start with a repair manual or owner manual troubleshoot chart. Clymer makes a really nice repair manual.

2010 Mud Pro

Greetins all,
I am brand new here, so I am still learning the site, please forgive any errors!

OK, my friend has a new 2010 Artic Cat 1000 Mud Pro. It is over heating and popping a code PO116. The machine is still under warranty and at the dealership. However, the dealership claims that they have never heard of that code and claim that the bike is not over heating. The dealership does not have a place to ride the bike to make it over heat again.

I had the bike out last weekend, did some light riding and it had over heated in 45 minutes. The radiator is clean and the fan does come on!

I am guessing either the thermostat, as that would be my first guess if it was anything like atuomobiles/tractors/etc. Next guess is the water pump, however it is impossible to see into the radiator without taking the whole front end off the bike.

Has anybody ever heard/seen the code PO116? What is the code for overheating??

Please help.

Bill

Hey, do you have a procedure to reset the diagnostic codes? Or will it do that automatically?

I've not heard of that...but that doesn't mean much...sorry.

To my knowledge most codes must be reset by a dealership mechanic.

This is from the Arctic Cat Manual....
If a sensor fails or an out-of-tolerance signal is sensed
by the ECU, an error code will be generated by the
ECU. This will result in the analog needle swinging
full scale (if equipped) or the LCD gauge going blank
(if equipped). The EFI icon will flash.
To read the error code(s), use the following procedure.
1. Make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF position;
then remove the seat.
2. Locate the diagnostic plug next to the PDM; then
remove the black rubber cap.
3. Connect the Diagnostic Harness to the diagnostic
plug.
ATV-112
4. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position and
read the error code on the LCD. Refer to the following
ECU Error Code List to identify the specific
problem area.
ECU Error Code List
NOTE: Each of the following numerical codes will
have a two-letter prefix. A prefix of AC (Active
Code) or SC (Stored Code) will be displayed.
Always correct and clear Active Codes before
clearing Stored Codes.

Here is a list of several codes also:
• 00 = No Fault Detected (active code only)
• 12 = CKP (Crankshaft Position) Sensor*
• 13 = APS (Air Pressure Sensor) - H1
• 13 = MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) Sensor - H2
• 14 = TPS (Throttle Position Sensor)
• 15 = ECT (Engine Coolant Temperature) Sensor
• 16 = Speed Sensor
• 21 = IAT (Inlet Air Temperature) Sensor
• 23 = Tilt Sensor*
• 24 = Ignition Coil #1*
• 26 = Ignition Coil #2* - H2
• 32 = Fuel Injector #1*
• 34 = Fuel Injector #2* - H2
• 40 = ISC (Idle Speed Control) Valve
• 41 = Fuel Pump Relay*
• 60 = Cooling Fan Relay
• 95 = Sensor Power
• 96 = Incorrect ECU*
• 97 = ECU Memory Power (constant battery power)
• 98 = UART Comm Link - H2
• 99 = Start/Run Not Possible (active code only)
*Will initiate code 99.
To clear the error code(s), use the following procedure.
NOTE: The ignition switch should be in the OFF
position.
1. With the diagnostic harness connected to the diagnostic
plug and the drive select switch in the 4WD
position, hold the reverse override switch down
and turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
2. After ten seconds, release the reverse override
switch and turn the ignition switch to the OFF position;
then turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
The display should read AC00 (no fault detected).
NOTE: If the LCD still displays an error code,
continue troubleshooting the appropriate component.
3. Disconnect the diagnostic harness; then install the
black rubber cap.
4. Install the seat making sure it locks securely in place.

Hope this helps

I have an '09 Mud Pro and experienced the same thing. It overheated the day I brought it home and was greatly annoyed! First off, there was a 10 amp fuse for the fan and it needed to have a 20 amp. It just blows the fuse each time when the fan tried to kick on. There is a primary relay for the fan. The fuse is suppose to be a back up in case the relay fails....which mine has done as well. Check those first, they are easy fixes. Hope this helps.

Check to make sure the ground from the solenoid to the starter is still in tact. I have a AC 400 TRV that miraculously melted in half at the starter. I went to crank it up and "pop" went the fuse.
