I don't see how they could be too high unless you didn't angle them back enough or as grizzwizard said, different frame geometry. I've got 5's on mine and have them angled back and they're perfect. Mine are much more angled back than grizzwizrds. Click my garage in my sig for pics.
As for some questions earlier, factory bars are 7/8 inch. The Solex or fatbars are 1 1/8 at the tree and in the bends. Then they taper to the factory 7/8 size where the controls and grips go on so factory-sized stuff will fit.
