Minneapolis, February 21, 2012 –This past Saturday, Polaris, in conjunction with the Wounded Warrior Project™ (WWP), gave away three, special, blacked-out RANGER RZR XP 4 900s to WWP Alumni. The “Phantom 4s” were presented to the three winners by representatives from the Wounded Warrior Project and Polaris. Polaris Defense surprised each winner by providing $5,000 worth of gear and accessories to outfit their new vehicles. Polaris also presented Wounded Warrior Project, $33,050 to honor the 1,322 people that entered the contest ($25 for each entrant).

Winners Tammy Persing, Gavin Goodwin and William Hampton entered an essay contest explaining what it would mean to them to win a Polaris RANGER RZR, and how they and their family would enjoy the vehicle. Their essays touched on how the vehicles would give them the ability to enjoy life with their families, be more adventuresome, and give them freedom away from the hospitals and post-war challenges they have endured.

The official giveaway to the contest winners was at a ride area outside of Phoenix, AZ. Jagged X, who was instrumental in developing and helping Polaris with the “Phantom 4s,” orchestrated a ride after the presentation for the winners and their families.

This was an interesting year for the 2012 Dealer Expo.  While the OffRoadHub.com team is naturally drawn to the off-road / dirt section of the show we couldn’t pass up the chance to look at all of the custom motorcycle creations.  This year the promoters Advanstar Communications introduced the American V-Twin Dealer Show.  This marked the first premium trade show for the V-Twin Motorcycle Industry.

We were saddened that the off-road and dirt sections were smaller this year when compared to the past, but we still had a great time and met some really cool people with the industry.

We would have to say that GoPro had the best display this year.  There were over 10 flat screen televisions playing random  insane footage.

OGIO has everyone covered with storage solutions for your gear whether its on a bike, on a plane or on an ATV.

 UTV’s were on the scene in full force.  Everything from wild to mild.

Morgantown, W.Va. (February 15, 2012) – The ATV Promoters Group (ATVPG), eScore and MYLAPS Sports Timing are pleased to announce the newest transponder on the market-MYLAPS FLEX transponder-as the official transponder of the 2012 AMA ATV Motocross National Championship Series.

“The new MYLAPS FLEX technology allows a racer to decide how long they want the transponder to be activated for, thus introducing a lower cost for racers purchasing a transponder,” said Drew Carl of eScore.

Previously using Trackside’s WEER transponder as the primary source of scoring races, the ATVMX Series will now require racers to use the MYLAPS FLEX transponder while competing in the 10-round national series.

“MYLAPS has taken into consideration that many racers have made an investment in their old transponder from WEER and MYLAPS will make a special exchange offer for those racers,” Carl added.

There are two different options available for racers who have already purchased a WEER transponder. Option one allows racers to exchange their WEER transponder for a MYLAPS FLEX transponder at no charge. The new MYLAPS FLEX transponder will expire on December 31, 2014, and more time can be added to the transponder via the Flex Manager software. The second option allows racers to exchange their WEER transponder for the MYLAPS CLASSIC transponder for $40. The CLASSIC transponder does not have an expiration date and can be used after 2014. TORRANCE, CA – February 16, 2012 – Round six of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship series took place this weekend in San Diego, CA. Honda had a successful night on the podium with TwoTwo Motorsports’ Chad Reed and Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda racing’s Cole Seely both capturing second place in the Supercross and Lites classes.

Team Honda Muscle Milk rider Justin Brayton showed impressive strength Saturday night after coming back from a bad crash in qualifying to finish sixth overall in the main. After going down hard in the second qualifying practice it was uncertain if Brayton would be able to ride the rest of the night.

Following some rest and an evaluation from the Asterisk medical team, the decision was made to ride. Brayton finished a solid fifth in his heat race. In the main, he grabbed a mid-pack start and battled his way through the entire 20 laps to a sixth-place overall finish.

TwoTwo Motorsports rider Chad Reed made his fifth podium appearance for the season with a second-place finish. Following a less-than-desirable start in his heat, Reed was given a second chance after the race was red flagged due to a crash. In the second start he was able to grab the holeshot and gap the rest of the pack for the win. During the main Reed got a third-place start but quickly made the pass for second. He spent the rest of the 20 laps charging at the front, battling with the rider in first up until the last lap.

GEICO Honda’s Kevin Windham had a disappointing end to his night after riding strong all day. After posting the fourth-quickest qualifying time of the night, Windham rode a solid heat race, finishing in fifth place.  During the main he got a mid-pack start but charged to fourth before going down in the whoops in the closing stages of the race. He was able to get up and finish the race in 16th position.

“The track was pretty difficult. The whoops ate a lot of people in the main and unfortunately I was one of them,” said Windham. “I felt good the first 17 laps and the GEICO Honda was running great, which makes me feel confident that

am inching closer and closer to the podium. It is frustrating, though, having such a good ride and then making one mistake that puts you on the ground. I am looking forward to next weekend and heading East.”

Troy Lee Designs/ Lucas Oil/ Honda’s Cole Seely made his way to the podium for a second consecutive week with a second-place finish in the Lites main. Seely started the night out strong, taking the win in his heat, followed by teammate Travis Baker. In the main, Seely nabbed a third-place start but quickly made the pass for second where he stayed the rest of the 20-lap race. “The night went really well for me,” said Seely. “I am happy with a podium heading into the break, as well as sitting way better in points.”

After winning three Lites races in a row and taking the points lead, GEICO Honda rider Eli Tomac had an unfortunate night in San Diego. He crashed hard in the long whoop section during the main, preventing him from finishing the race and robbing him of his championship points lead. Heading into the break, Tomac now sits in second place in the Lites West championship by a mere two points.

Valcourt, Québec, February 15, 2012 – Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450 Pro racer Josh Frederick won round two of the 2012 World Off-Road Championship Series (WORCS) held in the desert at Buffalo Bill’s Casino and Resort in Primm, Nevada. Can-Am X-Team racer Hunter Miller won the Pro 450 ATV class and also won the UTV Unlimited class in the Texas Off-Road Nationals (TORN) series at Beaumont Ranch in Grandview, Texas.

“Our Can-Am racers had successful weekends in both Nevada and Texas. Josh Frederick has gotten off to a great start this year on his DS 450, moving into a tie for the ATV Pro class points lead. He put in a great effort on the ATV and in the Commander 1000 X side-by-side vehicle in WORCS,” said Jimmie O’Dell, Race Manager, Can-Am. “Hunter Miller had a great debut in the Commander 1000 X in its TORN series debut, and also started the 2012 season off on the right foot with a Pro class victory aboard the DS 450.”

WORCS

Motoworks / Can-Am DS 450 pilot Dillon Zimmerman grabbed the WORCS ATV Pro-class holeshot after the dead-engine start, and led for two laps to start the Nevada round. However, a mechanical issue forced Zimmerman into the pits for a brief repair. He re-entered the mix, but ended the day in eighth place.

Frederick had his own challenge, as he was just outside the top five at the start of the race. After steadily moving to the front, Frederick found his way around the leader near the one-hour mark. From there, the former WORCS ATV Champion and Nevada native dominated on his home turf. He crossed the finish line more than a minute in front of the second-place rider. It was his first win of 2012 and pulled him into a tie for the Pro class points lead heading into round three.

“It was really dusty at first and the track was rough, so I just had to ride cautiously,” said Frederick. “I moved up pretty quickly and when I took the lead, I just kind of cruised. It felt like it’s been a long time since I was on top of the podium, so it felt really good to be up there. The Can-Am DS 450 always shines in the rough stuff.”

In other ATV class action, Can-Am X-Team racer and reigning Pro-Am ATV Champion Collins Webster finished second in

the Pro-Am class and also won the Production A class on his DS 450.

In just his second official race behind the wheel of the Motoworks-prepped Can-Am Commander 1000 X, Frederick overcame a tough start to finish fourth in the SxS Production 1000 class against 37 other racers. After getting hit from behind by another racer at the start, Frederic

k showed the poise of a champion and calmly clawed his way back into podium contention during the 45-minute race. He came up just a few seconds shy of making in on the box, but was happy with his fourth-place finish.

Round three of WORCS is scheduled for March 16-18, in Lake Havasu City, Ariz.

TORN

Hunter Miller, the defending Pro 450 class champion, jumped out to an early lead aboard his Louis Powersports-backed Can-Am DS 450. He battled for the lead with his brother and fellow Can-Am X-Team member Cody Miller and another racer until the midway point. Hunter held off both riders and finished roughly 14 seconds ahead of Cody for the win.

Hunter also notched a victory in the UTV Unlimited class in a nearly stock (aside from the exhaust, wheels and tires) Can-Am Commander 1000 X. Throughout the race Miller held off challenges from two highly modified, turbo-charged side-by-sides. Cody Miller also made his TORN debut behind the wheel of a Can-Am Commander 1000 X. He finished second overall in the UTV Limited class, just two seconds behind the winner.

Round three of the TORN series is slated for March 24-25, in Callisburg, Texas.
